Comodo Should Connect Only To Comodo IP Addresses To Check For Updates [M1013]

1. What version of CIS, or Comodo Firewall, are you currently using:
7.0.315459.4132

2. What actually happened or you saw:
Cmdupd.exe, part of the CIS updater, makes request to the addresses belonging to CloudFlare (for example 198.41.208.107 and others). However, previously all of these were to COMODO IP addresses.

3. What you wanted to happen or see:
I would like an option to have the IP addresses for all CIS requests be changed to only those owned by COMODO. This could be disabled by default if that would help the infrastructure.

4. Why you think it is desirable:

My software is restricted by a firewall. Currently it is impossible to properly monitor the firewall activity by IP. I think that this is not good for a security software application because it is impossible to restrict the IP addresses connected to trusted IP addresses only.

I can’t control this activity from the administrator point of view. I also cannot control some other programs, but they turn to CDN or unknown IP only at certain times during launch, or other actions.

5. Any other information:
None.

I’m not sure exactly what is going on with this activity. However, I am willing to forward this for consideration, assuming it garners the necessary number of votes.

I just edited the first post, the title, and added a poll. Please look over them and let me know if everything seems correct. If it is I will forward this to the Waiting Area for voting.

Thanks.

ok, all well, but “during launch launch” - word duplication?

it is important that CIS connect only to IP addresses owned exclusively by Comodo for update checks?

3. What you wanted to happen or see:
I would like all upgrade ( and other ) IP addresses to connect to those owned only by COMODO.

Chiron, if possible, change the phrase to

3. What you wanted to happen or see: I would like all upgrade and other IP addresses for CIS request would be changed to those owned by COMODO only. It may be the disabled by default setting option

I hope I clearly written.

Thanks, I’ve made some more changes to the first post. Please look it over and let me know if everything seems correct.

“to have all upgrade, and IP addresses”

incorrect.

“I would like an option to have IP addresses for all CIS requests”

I don’t know if so?

Okay. How is it now?

it’s correct.

Thank you for submitting this Wish Request. I have now reset the poll and moved this to the WAITING AREA.

Please be sure to vote for your own wish, and for any other wishes you also support. It is also worthwhile to vote against wishes you think would be a waste of resources, as implementing those may slow down the wishes you would really like to see added.

Thanks again.

This could be disabled by default if that would help the infrastructure.
??? How you imagine it?

Check box. Separate domain name for different update system.

Look that at you it is written in settings.

At me it is written:
Updating from

download.comodo.com

Updating a bases to came earlier - from

downloads.comodo.com (178.255.82.1).

Now IP for updating bases doesn’t correspond to record a server name.

Most likely now bases are stored on CloudFlare.
If I correctly understand.
Only not clearly. Why it is made? ???

DNS 83 Standard query A cdn.download.comodo.com

CIS does not refer to download.comodo.com address.

Simply that would be clear.
There shouldn’t be a choice.
I think.
All servers (IP) have to belong only Comodo.

jenny66, CIS does not refer to download.comodo.com address. Written download.comodo.com - really cdn.download.comodo.com

I understand about what you speak.
CDN it not DNS.
I to you let know who was the owner.

Probably that CDN (IP change) - is connected with loading of servers.

I repeat again.
Written in the settings - download.comodo.com
Real referenced to cdn.download.comodo.com by cloudflare.net servers

What is written is not true. Your screenshot is not talking about what really requested for updates CIS

It is a screenshot for you.

That you ask. My Reply #3

P.S. More I won’t write here.
To watch this subject, it is necessary to come into an account.
With the best regards.
