COMODO Online Storage 2.0.6 Released!

Hello,

We are happy to announce that COMODO Online Storage 2.0.6 was released to public.

Features:

  • Dropzone. The dropzone is non-intrusive and it appears only when dragging and dropping something
  • Website application for browsing / uploading / downloading files https://www.ccloud.com
  • Files and Folders on website can be shared with other people, even non-COS users by sending them the link
  • 5GB free accounts. You can sign-up with your email address as username.
  • Optional automatic upload of screen captures
  • synchronization option in right click menu on a folder
  • default synchronized folder in MyDocuments with overlayed icons which is automatically synchronized over all computers where you login
  • COS mounted drive which behaves like a local drive.
  • COS 2.0 is a complete remake and it doesn’t have anything in common with COB 1.x
  • You can gain up to 10GB of extra storage space if you send you referral link to friends (200MB per each friend who signs up)
  • WSDL documentation (updated API for Online Storage) here.
  • Detailed logs in %TEMP%\ComodoLogsFolder and \Windows\Temp\ComodoLogsFolder for debugging easier any issues. They should be posted with each bug report.

What’s fixed & improved : (compared to 2.0.5 RC)

  • better speed when uploading / downloading via dropzone
  • cos-core-lib which was reported as damaged sometimes
  • sync and COS services that can’t be started on Windows XP x64
  • shell extension options that didn’t appear
  • exclamation mark in COS system tray icon when COS service was sometimes reported as not started when actually was started
  • COS drive mounted in an inconsistent state after installing the application

Known issues:

  • Sometimes the Drop Zone doesn’t remember its last known position on screen;
  • In some cases, the first upload to COS via the Drop Zone and the first download from the COSDrive - for files\folder takes some extra time before initiating;
  • Sometimes files/folders are not automatically deleted from the Online Storage drive after the upload is cancelled;
  • Sometimes the Drop Zone needs to be disabled and then enabled in order to start;
  • System tray baloon error messages not showing up on Windows XP;
  • On some operating systems, the COS drive and the COS Service don’t initialize properly after the installation;
  • Explorer.exe may be slower when executing basic operations with the mounted COSDrive (when browsing its contents, when executing move/copy operations to the COSDrive and vice-versa)

Very nice product guys, well done! Out of interest, how much does the Comodo Complete get, is it more than 5gb?

Using it to backup all my techy tools and stuff… (nothing too personal goes on, if it does in time it will be encrypted for added security).

I’m on fast connection with not bad upload, 1.09gb gonna take 23 hours… do I have to leave my computer on or can I resume the rest of upload at another time… maybe work on the speed aspect a little (maybe I’m an isolated case).

Good work though for all those who worked on this.

you get 10 gb with complete.i think it should be more since you get 5 gb free.

Not to mention that even as FREE, you can get up to 10GB if you refer to your friends.
So, I think HYATT69 its “completely” right. :-TU

Yeah, 20Gb would be fair for Complete in my opinion, 5Gb to 10Gb is more than fair, after testing/trying this service, I just have two things to add for the moment which I hope you will consider.

The speed needs to be improved. my line is capable of quite a bit of upload seed yet only reached 60kb/s (can’t expect super speeds as that might cost too much but at least double that is needed) and think anywhere from 120-170 should be fine? (discuss everyone?)

And the other point, when connection is dropped for whatever reason you get the option to “Try Again”, or “Skip”.

This is very confusing as people think (well I did that try again means resume/try to reconnect, not very nice when having to start again on over 1Gb of files…) and skip means just start a fresh. They chould be changed to Resume & Start Again or something…

Justv my little bit of input. :smiley:

I think comodo should increase online storage capacity from 5gb to atleast 10gb since many competitors give 10gb for free and 300mb per referral for eg www.cx.com
