COMODO & ITUNES [Resolved]

Hi all.New to comodo, seems like a sound firewall but now i can not download music froms itunes.i allowed itunes.exe is there something i’m missing?

Setting an application rule for itunes.exe means that the application is allowed out to the internet. youy still need to set a network monitor rule as well. The network monitor rules determine HOW something is allowed out.

you need to set up two separate rules in network monitor. Details are as follows;

RULE 1
Action : ALLOW
Direction : OUT
Protocol : TCP
Source IP : ANY
Destination IP : ANY
Source Port : 3689
Destination Port : ANY

RULE 2
Action : ALLOW
Direction : OUT
Protocol : UDP
Source IP : ANY
Destination IP : ANY
Source Port : 5353
Destination Port : ANY

BOTH of these rules need to be placed ABOVE the BLOCK ALL usually found at the bottom of the network monitor rules list, as CPF reads the rules from the top of the list (Rule 0) downwards.

Hope this helps,

I’m having the same problem, the fix you have posted did not help me - any further tips?

Hi, did anyone try in the Itunes prefs and under firewall tab music sharing change to port 3689? Not sure but I believe you can turn it right off as you don’t need it if using another firewall. Also see if 443 is blocked. Further, are any of you behind NAT?

Paul

Hi, thanks for replying. Not sure how to to allow those ports. I believe I am using NAT, as am using Netgear DG834G router to connect.

further, SVCHOST.exe is not in my allowed applications?

Thanks.

Further to my last post, I uninstalled Comodo, rebooted the PC, and I still cannot access these two programs, with NO software firewall?

Could it be my router??

I have used these problem progs 100’s of times in the recent months!

last post on this issue - solved my problem. My system calender in the taskbar had the wrong date (sometime in April 07!)

Set to todays date - all OK! !

Hi, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. Glad to hear you solved it. However, if you read this, one symptom of you time and date being wrong could be your CMOS battery going bad so I would look into this. Also, if you didn’t get updates from MS, would check that too as you won’t get them if the time is off by that much.
