Comodo is blocking Avast(Voice) and also Volume Icon in Taskbar HELP!....

Ok these I believe might be the same issue since both have to do with something related to sound.

Before I get to the problems I want to note that I removed Avast and also Comodo to do a fresh reinstall.

Ok after I took both off I used CCleaner and removed the junk leftover and then went into programs and removed the left over files as well. I restarted my computer of course after each uninstall.

So with both gone I now had only the Volume Icon in the taskbar. I then installed Avast Home edition 4.8 and put the standard shield and Web shield up since everything else Avast has( I dont use email or IMs on this computer and the P2P and Network guard Comodo D+ covers)

So here I am with Avast and my little Volume icon in the taskbar. Avast does it’s auto update and then uses a voice(comes over my speakers) and tells me that its updated.

PROBLEM 1
Ok, next step…time for Comodo with D+. I install Comodo and after the restart I sit there and wait and Avast Icon appears then shortly after the Comodo Icon appears as well(there hasn’t been any fire in the icon lately btw) but no Volume Icon. Now I checked to see if it was enabled still and it is. So why is it not showing up in the taskbar.

PROBLEM 2
Also when the Avast updates now there is no sound…there is supposed to be sound on every update. Not that I really care bout the voice but it should work. So why is the Voice not working anymore?

Obviously Comodo is blocking things that should not be blocked, how do I make it so things function properly?

Is this only with the sound of Avast? Or for sound in general?

Only Avast.

Although Avast! has audio options, the sound files are still managed by Windows.
Chech your Windows Sound audio selections (they may be blank).
Click on Menu/Settings/Sounds/Settings from within Avast!. This pulls up the Windows Sound Manager.
Scroll down to Avast! Antivirus. Your actual sound files (for Avast!) are located under Program Files/Awil Software/Avast4/English (or whatever language you are using). Simply reselect the sound files you wish to use.
I use the ST skin on mine. It manages it’s own sound files.

They are all shown correctly

Strange …

for the audio icon, please follow these steps to see if it’s correct. If so, please uncheck click apply and check it again, see if that helps (it should)
btw : advanced options should be : adjust power properties (sorry for that ;))

Xan

Yes Xan it does but I hate doing that every time. Comdo shield does the same thing.

Can something in my Services be causing this? Awhile ago someone changed somethings in there.

Like for example ctfmon.exe is disable.

Can I ask you what services you have enabled at the moment ? + are they on manual or automatic start ?

Xan

Ill give all of it lol. I just dont know how to get to it.

you’re on XP right ?

start → run → services.msc

if vista
in the searchspace type services.msc

Xan

Im getting screen shots now

Better PICs (UPDATED)

I just posted full image pics. (saw that services were partly cut off)

Strange, nothing special in the services… (only that there are a lot of services enabled :P)
