Sandbox is a constant headache. Where is the D+ stats in summary? Why the default theme is so agressive and where I can get the neutral previous one? Why I can’t choose installation language? Translated interface (russian) looks awful - words are bigger than allowed space for them.
Does the AV work with the virus scanning feature of firefox when you download something using that browser?
After some of the reports in this thread (especially the one by kougar about
being unable to logon after the first post-install reboot) I am still somewhat reluctant about
upgrading to V4.
Is it true that you can not tell the Installer that you’d rather have the sandbox off ?
If I remember correctly, with recent V3.x builds, you could choose that you want “basic”
firewall protection in the installer, thus disabling the whole Defense+ part of CIS.
Is this still possible in the installer, and would not choosing to do so disable the sandbox
as well (as it is part of D+) ?

That option is not given and disabling the sandbox is also not possible until after installation. The only options I saw were whether you wanted the two individual components, AV and Firewall. Past that you are given options to use Comodo DNS and Hopsurf. There isn’t even the option to not install the PC Support, it does it without even telling you ahead of time that it is going to. It can be uninstalled later but I don’t like that it installs by default and also pretty much by stealth. You click to start installation of your chosen options and then, and only then, is the PC support mentioned as it downloads and installs itself.

are you running version 4? if so i would because they have fixed security issues with the sandbox.
Well there is a workaround for this, just don’t reboot when CIS asks and fire-up the GUI then set the Sandbox slider to “Disabled”.
If you’d like to go a step further and want v3 behavior also switch the security profile to Proactive Security before setting the sandbox to disabled and your on v4 in v3 mode.
Now reboot and let it roll…
And neither do I like non-configurable installers :-[
It is sad to hear that there were even configuration options removed from the installer
that were still in there in V3.x
I would like to kindly suggest to the developers to bring back some more configuration
options in the installer, such as for example choosing not to install the PC Support, but above
all giving the user the option to select the Security Level (Defense+ On / Off, Sandbox On / Off) from within the installer.

This sadly, is the most painful thing with v4. I can forgive bugs and working issues but a huge red banner that makes reading text painful is another thing entirely. Even if the gui designer had no understanding of human vision, surely at some point he must have realised the effect it was having. Frankly it makes comodo look like an armatures attempt at a gui next to the competition (thankfully looks aren’t everything) .
It’s all well linking themes on here, but really. The v3 neutral theme might not be eye-candy but it is clean, clear, easy to read and free of large, bright, distracting colour blocks. I doubt it’d be difficult to reimplement it in the next release surely?
The two things I like the best about V4 are not creating rules for safe applications and-- the theme. The red is much better than the ugly v3 theme and does not cause any distractions or eye fatigue whatsoever. It also matches the theme of these forums and I thnk that’s what they were shooting for. Red is their trademark color and I think it’s fine.
I agree! I hope they make a skin for the colors in v3. Red is so overused in software these days.

Thx for these great product.
I’d like to feedback some of bit. After using the ‘4.0.138377.779’ i got the experience that some occasion when want to start using the application (like win explorer to copy paste files or opening browser or open documents), it will take longer time to open/run. Something like freeze for a while or slow on refreshing things. But i cannot describe in detail how to produce this problem at the moment. I feel i do not have this kind of issue on ‘4.0.135239.742’. Thank you.
