Comodo Internet Security 8.4.0.5068 build is released!

You can open the .exe installer with 7zip and extract the .msi file (there are two .msi files, one for x64 and the other for x86), then install CIS by that

great job guys!

Just installed update, working fine except for one problem. Cannot update virus database!! Keep getting error saying cannot make server connection!

Hi dcurryallen,
Did you reboot the system after the update?

Thanks.

Yes, I rebooted at the prompt, but will try reboot again.

thanks

Nope. Tried rebooting again, still receiving server error when it attempts to contact the updates server. Download.comodo.com is also not responding. Wanted to download a fresh copy of the installer, as I got the update this morning from filehippo.com cause download from comodo wouldn’t work. Internet access still exists as I have forum access.

As usually sandboxed browsers laaaggg. :frowning:

Hello Solarlynx,

I would like to get all the details about your problem, appreciate it if you could provide me the details of your environment and which browser are you using ? Please PM the info to me at the earliest time.

Kind Regards

Will there be a fix for this bug in a version soon? https://forums.comodo.com/firewall-help-cis/comodo-prevents-weechat-on-cygwin-from-working-t113647.15.html

Hi,

I use COMODO Free Firewall only (NOT CIS) and just updated it through the updater in the program. All went well except when I look in Control Panel - Programs and Features, the entry for COMODO Firewall indicates an install date of 1/16/2016, a size of 112 MB and version 8.2.0.4792. This install date and version number don’t correspond to the right install date (today) and the version number in the first post.

So, I reran the updater and received the message the program was up to date. I checked the logs, and in the Tasks logs, it indicates that when I did the update, COMODO went from Old Build 5027 to New Build 5068. I don’t know how this information relates to the latest version.

Can someone please confirm if I have successfully installed the newly release version of COMODO Free Firewall only (again not CIS) of if I should uninstall the program and do a clean install?

Thank you so very much for any information you can provide.

Best regards,

mybuddy1998

same here but opening cis gui, help > about, it shows latest edition correctly…

Hi vitim,

Thank you so very much for the quick and extremely helpful and reassuring information. I checked help > about in my gui, and it also shows the latest version correctly. So, it appears the latest version of the program installed correctly.

Although the issue is resolved, does anyone know why there is a discrepancy in all the different places the version information appears in my and vitim’s computers?

Thanks so very much for any information you can provide.

Best regards,

mybuddy1998

Check the version number Comodo Firewall reports its self. That is the number that counts. The version number in Program and Features may incidentally not get updated if the updater was not properly instructed. Always check the version number in the program.

Hi EricJH,

Thank you so very much for the quick reply and the exceptionally clear and useful explanation of what is going on with the discrepancy. My COMODO Firewall program does report the correct version number so all is well.

From now on, thanks to your excellent advice, I will always check the version number in the program to confirm an update was successfully installed.

Best regards,

mybuddy1998

Well, minor version is changed to two points at once but GUI bug report moved to outdated/resolved section but not fixed yet.
It’s too hard to correct only one parameter?

I would mark this behavior maybe not as bug but something that needs to be fixed anyways.

I am afraid this is a long term error, years not months at least since version 5

Dennis

The detail of the system version is in the CIS property

It also happened to me once, I updated CFW and I found two entries in the install/uninstall menu, one for CFW and another one for CIS… in my opinion, even if you use CFW only, it’s always better to download the installer for the full CIS and then uncheck the AV part

At the installation CIS
