Please welcome the new major release for COMODO Internet Security/Antivirus/Firewall 8.4.0.5068 !!

While we are getting very close to our next generation CIS Version10 Beta release, we also work ■■■■■■■ the feedbacks and the bugs we received from you for the previous version of CIS 8.4.0.5068.

The main of purpose of this major release includes important new features as well as the bug fixes and improvements !

Existing CIS 6.x, CIS 7x and CIS 8.x users will receive an automatic update offer CIS 8.4 Release update !

What’s new in 8.4.0.5068 ?

New:

Extended “File Downloaders” file group :

“File Downloaders” file group has been extended with popular cloud clients such as GoogleDrive, OneDrive, DropBox, etc. !

Website Filtering browser signatures have become updatable:

We will update the browser signatures automatically once there is any update, so that there will be no problem on your Website Filtering experience !

Improved:

  • Yahoo! installation offer is not shown during CIS/CAV paid packages’ updates anymore.
  • ‘Browser Protection’ feature is enabled by default upon clean install

Fixed:

  • Google Chrome and Internet Explorer crash upon closing when run in Sandbox

One question Buket, how come installer is some 60 MB smaller than previous release?

Well yeah, I’m still rocking CIS as well, but last release had it defaulted to off, now it’s back on, people should just keep that in mind when installing.

I just want to say Thank You for the great product.
And one question - would it be possible to update to v.10 when released, or clean install is mandatory?

That’s the first thing I noticed. For it to be that much lighter something important must have been stripped from it.
Looking forward to the answer.

Most probably the AV definitions.

Yandex installer is smaller in this release. You can unzip installer and check what is inside.

There is lot of unneeded stuff there. Please Comodo, change this for new v10 release, remove it from installer and set to download if selected and needed.

It is because of one of a new installer with a smaller package size inside CIS-consists of other installers being a security suite .
