  1. Attach screenshots to your posts to clarify the issue further
  2. Any other information you think that might be useful
  3. The CIS Security profile your using, and if you imported a previous version of the config

It’s vital to provide all this information, so the developers can quickly identify and fix bugs faster.

This format will be strictly moderated. If your messages do not convey this format, they are not going to be taken into account.

It’s very important to know what security profile your using and if you imported a previous config, and if you have changed settings from default, e.g. enabled “block all unknown requests if the application is closed” etc.

For those who observe freeze issues while doing a full scan:

Here is what you need to do in order o identify the problematic file while scanning:

1 - Disable Defense+
2 - Download Process Explorer from Process Explorer - Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn
3 - Run Process Explorer
4 - In Process Explorer, select View->Lower Pane View->Handles
5 - In Process Explorer Process window, click on cmdagent.exe
At this stage, in the lower pane, you should be seeing handles opened by cmdagent.exe. You are particularly interested in “Type File”
6 - Open CIS and Run a Scan → My Computer.

Wait until the scan hangs. When the scan hangs, you must go to Process Explorer and check the Lower Pane for open “File Handles”. One of those handles are causing this issue. Probably an archive file. Please indentify that file and let us know.

Uninstalled 5.5 using Revo uninstaller (moderate level); used Ccleaner and Regseeker to clean temp files and registry, rebooted, tried to install CIS 5.8, but when it arrives at 99%, I have this error message “Cannot install cis beta. Error: 1603, irreversible error during installation”
5. How you tried to resolve the problem N/A

Then I had to reinstall CIS 5.5 and everything is ok now…no problems even with the previous beta.

Subject: General AV bug.

The problem is the same than in the 5.5.xxx.1383, 5.8.xxx.2037 beta

Trusted Files of D+ doesn’t show the infected file and when I tried to access(example: cut and paste) the file, the CIS and Win 7 explorer doesn’t respond, frozen. Next step restart the CIS and Win 7 explorer. Okay the file appear at Trusted Files, I deleted it from there but the Real-time scanning doesn’t show pop-up alert.

  4. How you tried to resolve the problem Nothing to do here
  5. Upload Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any NIL
  6. Attach screenshots to your posts to clarify the issue further NIL
  7. Any other information you think that might be useful. i have a hi-res display(1920 x 1080), im not sure how this affects my problem but its worth mentioning
  8. The CIS Security profile your using, and if you imported a previous version of the config proactive security, but firewall is in custom policy mode

i dont know if this is really a bug or not, but maybe it would be better if the application names wrapped instead of expanding to obscure other parts of the interface…

In CIS this setting is active by default, the manual says that by default is disabled.

Fix the manual

Enable adaptive mode under low system resources - Very rarely (and only in a heavily loaded system), low memory conditions might cause certain CIS functions to fail. With this option enabled, CIS will attempt to locate and utilize memory using adaptive techniques so that it can complete its pending tasks. However, the cost of enabling this option may be reduced performance in even lightly loaded systems (Default = Disabled).

  1. CIS 5.8.202876.2065 (updated through builtin updater from previous 5.8 version)
  2. W7 32bit, XP SP3 32bit
  3. none
  4. Start AV defs update

After reaching the Finishing… stage, CIS (cmdagent) started to eat all the available memory on both my W7 (got to 1,75 GB) and XP (got to 750 MB). There was no crash or anything and the update was still running, but the system obviously ended up swapping like hell and the update took about 50 minutes on the XP machine and 20 minutes on the W7 one because of this, the time was measured from the Finishing… stage, excluding the download (that was fast anyway as I have a 8MBps line) and processing of separate update files.

Not sure if this is a bug, but CIS beta is now using over 1gb of virtual memory on my PC. It has always used a lot, in the range of 650-700mb. After updating the av sigs today, it is now over 1gb. That seems excessive no? Also, the peak workset is > 880meg!

a)I downloaded Chrome installer from Google Chrome - Download the Fast, Secure Browser from Google
b) I run this file in Comodo’s manual sandbox.
c) Google Chrome’s installation windows pop-uped Process GoogleUpdate.exe is starting to use a lot of CPU time.
d) Installation failed.
e) Then 2 extra processes - GoogleUpdate.exe appeared , Comodo asked me to allow/block request about net connection for this process. I closed error window and blocked firewall alert. CPU usage increased very high again. RAM usage also is increasing with every second. In the meantime another process GoogleUpdate.exe appeared and firewall alert requesting Net connection for this process - I blocked it.
f) I terminated all GoogleUpdate.exe processes with Windows Task Manager. CPU usage is raising down, but RAM is used all the time (even after i killed all this processes, I didn’t get free memory).

[ol]- Your Operating System (32 or 64 bit) and Service Pack revision: XP SP3 32 bit on production machine.

  • Other Security and Utility Software Installed: Actual Window manager, no others likely to be relevant
  • Step by step description to reproduce the issue: Choose to scan using link on main CIS summary page; Choose ‘My Computer’; start the scan; pause after letting scan run over night; reboot computer with scan paused; on reboot CIS takes a long time initializing then gives up and shows yellow ‘!’ in system tray and ‘application agent is not running error’ in summary GUI page. However OS services dialog and killswitch show cmdagent is running. Further reboots do not resolve.

I have had the current release of Comodo crash with unknown bug more than 24 times in the last 2 months with bug reports submitted here and status unresolved, so I decided to beta test this release 2065. The machines are standard Intel I7, NVIDIA, Asus and 6 gig of memory running standard Win 7.1 pro 64 bit UAC on. Machines scan clean with Malwarebytes and pass Prime95 hardware test without errors. All critical Win files are verified and all drivers are verified and digitally signed. Conodo loads without any problems, but Malwarebytes, with Comodo 2065 AV disabled, now scans clean taking greater than 30 minutes when it took about 5-10 minutes before Comodo load. Slowing the machines down by a factor of about 5. With reboot machines do not boot. Blue screen of death. Repair console fails. On one machine it states I/O recently installed should be removed, but there has been no such recent device installed. On another machine it states that critical Win files have been altered and are unrecoverable. I think that these critical bugs need to be fixed BEFORE Comodo is released this time. Thanks.
