COMODO Internet Security 4.0.664.127486 Bug Reports

agree…i did a flush and fill on a machine and had to install all the drivers…i must have had to click allow 200 times…i thought this was one of the whole points of v4? then installer mode is grayed out most of the time…wth?

  1. Your Operating System (32 or 64 bit) and Service Pack revision: Windows 7 64bit

  2. Other Security and Utility Software Installed: Just COMODO Time Machine

  3. Step by step description to reproduce the issue:

ISSUE 1: - 1st picture: When using certain software such as 7-Zip for first time, causes CIS to produce this kind of alert. Is this normal by default with sandboxing enabled, etc?
SOURCE: http://www.7-zip.org/ (download the x64 package. msi)

ISSUE 2: - 2nd picture: this is a rouge malware application. CIS says it is signed, I think this will cause alot of confusion for many novices because they can see it’s signed, and if they allow it, the malware can do whatever it wants.
SOURCE: PM me if you need the rouge.

ISSUE 3: - 3rd & 4th picture (sshot 5 and sshot6): ChessRally program fails to uninstall when Sandboxing is enabled. I ALLOWED the dll alert (sshot 5) and then got that error message from ChessRally (sshot6). To resolve it, disabling the sandbox and it uninstalls perfectly.
SOURCE: www.chessrally.com

  1. How you tried to resolve the problem: Disabling Sandboxing solves all 3 issues.

  2. Upload Memory Dumps on crash if you encounter any: n/a

  3. Attach screenshots to your posts to clarify the issue further: See below

  4. Any other information you think that might be useful: n/a

Cheers,
Josh

its grayed out 99% of the time though

the whole submitting files thing (btw, submitting is misspelled throughout cis) seems like a waste of time…i look up the files, they’re unknown. i submit them. then they sit in the cue…then what? just delete them and have them return next time…if you add them to safe files, how do you know they’re safe? you dont get feedback ever…so it seems pointless…and clearly all the ones i have submitted over the last 2 years still arent on a safe list…ive sent the same files over and over probably

FIRST PC… the one uploading the file… (bug happens on second PC)

They could add Lookup option to My Safe File List in order to recheck the status of the files periodically, just like it is available for My Pending Files. As for the submitted files, yes it takes long time to analyse them by Comodo, but most of them get eventually verified. What is weird though, some of them change status from safe to unrecognized. For example WinMTR. It hasn’t been updated for years [Latest version : 0.8 (20.01.2002)], but the status of the application changed from unrecognised to safe, and then to unrecognised again at least once. I don’t know what to think about it.

Windows seven 64 bits. Last updating.

When firefox running (for example) in sandbox, and i stop it (FF), the windows explorer restarted.

only with the applications in sandbox.

At the end of the utilisation, the explorer down, and i restart it manually.

Comodo Dragon (and another software based on chromium) don’t work in sandbox.

It’s so disappointing that this BETA Totally BLOCKS my USB FLASH DRIVE when DEF+ at any Level and SANDBOX is Active. And it cause my Desktop inactive for a bit while at it freezes my Firefox Browser during browsing! when GOOGLE SIDEBAR is Active, it uses a lot of CPU Usage since I install this beta. This is the worst Beta I’ve ever tested since I used CIS.

In My Pending Files, under Submitted: 1/1/1970 1:00:00 AM.

Certain text areas in Defense+ and Firewall alerts have too small font at 120 DPI, comparing to the same alerts at 96 DPI where all text areas have equal font. Screenshot attached.

It is a beta and finding issues is what beta testing is all about.

The blocked USB storage devices under XP has been reported and acknowledged. The devs are looking into this.

Ewen

I have Uploded the mini dump regardin BSod with Xilisoft video converter with Sandboxing enabled.

Well i think it will take some time for sandbox to be completely compatible with programs as there are tons of them out there.

I know PANIC… but the thing is, EVEN I do not disable DEF+ and I will boot to SAFE MODE without configuring any thing on Safe mode and then restart to Normal again, USB Falsh Drive and MEMORY CARD reader is back to normal again… and then when I restart again after I found out that USB is working again, the USB Memory Storage devices again will not show up on a normal windows mode!

Note:

*USB is not working in FLASH DRIVES and MEMORY CARD READERS.
*USB is working in All non storage Devices Like BLUETOOTH / KEYBOARD and MOUSE

(Windows XP-SP2)

I addition to that… (On XP SP2)

*DESKTOP on XP SP2 will showed-up DELAYED for a few seconds during start-up
*When you RIGHT CLICK the CIS Logo and adjust FIREWALL/DEF+ LEVEL, it doesn’t working! that’s why you *need to open the Main GUI of CIS to modify the Level that you want.
*It stocks the entire system in some occasions after you restart when you Adjust the DEF+/FIREWALL Level
*When you put GOOGLE SIDEBAR to SANDBOX at any Restriction Level, Google Sidebar consumes 100% of CPU Usage continuously

Update: MSIExe version: 4.5.6001.22159 (vistasp1_ldr.080415-1732) Still won’t install & computer is clean. I rolled back anyhow upon attempt to install CIS V4, I’m back to Full CIS V3.13.XXXXXX.581 I’ll wait for all bug fixes and an exe setup for CIS V4 before reattempting an install.
Bummer all the same ???
Xman

I have a question please
Has anybody tried “System Restore” in version 4.
As far as i was concerned it would not work in V.3.so i am hoping the problem has been sorted in V.4.
I would try it myself except that i am averse to betas.
Thanks
