COMODO Internet Security 4.0.141842.828 Released

Hi Everyone,

We have just released COMODO Internet Security 4.0.141842.828. This is a maintenance release which addresses several previously reported bugs.

The main reason for this release is the demand from our users for a standalone executable installer for the individual products.

Universal web installers are capable of installing the product itself and if you download this version, you do not need to download the other files.

Whats new in 4.0.141842.828?

NEW! Standalone installers in addition to the web based installer
FIXED! ARP spoofing protection does not protect against certain attacks
FIXED! Automatically sandboxed applications can modify existing protected files under certain conditions
FIXED! Proxy authentication in updater settings does not work
IMPROVED! CIS4 is now available in 16 languages. Kudos to the translators!

If you have a previous version of CIS/CAV/CFW 4.X, you can use the automatic updater to get the latest version.

Egemen
Kind Regards,

Please add some description about CIS = CAV+CFW? Or else. And why all packages have the ~same size? Even those that is subclassed. Can’t believe that the point is that lightly changed installation script in few bytes(Kbytes).

Congratulations with the new release and the new set of the installation package.(:CLP) O0

Well done guys!

Egemen, can you expand on this fix please?

Compared to the last fix of the previous version, which I assume both fixes are similar? (But this time it’s file related and not Registry).

How critical were both these issues?

So standalone installers is a NEW! feature now? 88)

Hahahahaha   ;D ;D

Installer can in both ways with or without the Internet.

Congratulations on the new release, and the sandbox improvement!

Best wishes

Mouse

I updated from the previous release on my XP SP3 and ran the leak test.

Proactive configuration.

With Sandbox enabled I got 50/340.

Sandbox disabled only 30/340.

Diagnostics finds no problem and all seems ok.

clicking yes to submit after a pending files look up and files unknown doesn’t submit anything. Selecting files manually and submitting them works.

If I only want to install Comodo Firewall, so what is difference between these two installers?
Same size and everything, but different filenames. Wtf? ???

I don’t understand: if well configurated, CIS MUST match 340/340 ! What’s wrong ?

I manually added CLT to D+ as Isolated Application and get 340/340 ( with Sandbox enabled)

If I don’t add it, I get 0/340.

Configured CIS to Proactive Security, set everything to Safe Mode and disabled Automatically add Safe Applications. Also added Executables to Image Execution Control.

But I don’t get an Alert for unknown Programs such as CLT. Am I doing something wrong?
I never get D+ Alerts, only (but rarely) firewall Alerts.

System is: XP SP3 with all the latest Updates

CIS full installer and CFW installer have the same size…not surprising there’s an option to install the AV in the firewall/def+ only setup 88). At least MD5 is different ;D

I tweaked CIS a bit and turned on Balloon Messages to see if anything would at least occur and retested CLT.

Got 40/340 with Create Rules for Safe Applications off.

Turned it on and got 50/340 but sometimes a message popped up: Firewall is learning CLT accessing the Loopback Adapter or CLT accessing other IPs

I didn’t allow that nor i think that CLT is a Safe Application.

D+ works correctly but only if you add something manually, by default everything gets a custom Policy which doesn’t restrict much.

Is there any way to turn this behaviour off?

Also I thought that Safe Mode should alert you every time an application tries to access the Internet or modify a file on the computer?

If you have a previous version of CIS/CAV/CFW 4.X, you can use the automatic updater to get the latest version.

When the internal updater will work from Version 3 to Version 4???

I get 340/340. I am in Proactive Security with the sandbox disabled and Create Rules for Safe Applications off for both the Firewall and Defense+. The AV is set to stateful. I of course denied each request and then told it to save the rules.

I get a perfect score with both the previous version and this one.

Finally CIS 4 works correctly

Just reinstalled it and reconfigured it now it asks for every Application

Passed CLT with 340/340.

Works perfectly.

So it is a problem with the updating. I will reinstall too.

Well I uninstalled the updated version and installed a fresh one, copying the bases.cav from the original to save a lot of downloading.

The only difference now with CLT is that with Sandbox disabled the score has increased to 40/340, so hardly any difference.

Ran the tests on my Vista notebook and got a full score with Sandbox disabled and 200+ with it enabled. Same CIS configuration on both.
