I have been successfully running Comodo with Avast for some time. However, since updating to the current versions (of both programs) I am unable to access websites. My browsers (FF & IE) will load, but are prevented from connecting. I just get a blank page until the timed out server message appears.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs with no luck.
If only one of the programs (Avast or Comodo) is running then there is no problem. Also, if I install an old version of Avast then no problem, but I would like to be able to run the current versions of both. It seems that Comodo and Avast won’t play together and I am at the moment using the Windows XP firewall.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
Hello!
Thanks for giving us a chance to assist you!
---- Comodo Internet Security ----
Create an avast group
CIS > Defense+ > Computer Security Policy > Protected Files and folders {tab} > Groups > Add > Avast > Apply > Select Avast > Add > Browse > (Browse to Avast installation directory) You may add the whole directory or individual files (exe only) > Apply > Apply > apply
(Until you get back to the main CIS Window)
Add Avast Group as Trusted Application
CIS > Defense+ > Define a new trusted application > Groups > “Avast”
Add Avast Group excluded to Shell Code Injection
CIS > Defense+ > Defense+ Settings > Image Execution Control {tab} > Exclusions > Add > Groups > “Avast”
Add Avast To Access the Memory of cmdagent/cfp
CIS > Defense+ > Computer Security Policy > “Comodo Internet Security” > Edit > Edit > Protection Settings > Interprocess Memory Access > Modify > Add > Groups > Avast
---- Suggestions to do for Avast Antivirus ----
Add cmdagent.exe/cfp.exe (or the entire directory of CIS) in the exclusions
---- Suggestions to do for Web Browsing ----
Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /flushdns
then try to access the webpages
If this does not work please export the Firewall Events and post them here on the forums
(CIS > Firewall > Firewall Events > More > File > Export > As Text/ or HTML )
As Well as the Defense Events
CIS > Defense+ > Defense+ Events > More > File > Export > As Text/ or HTML
Regards
Jacob
Thanks for the suggestions Jacob. Unable to do at moment but will do asap and report result.
I only had the Firewall function of Comodo running. (not with AV)
Ok; I’ll edit my Initial post;
Thanks for reporting back
Thanks
Jacob
Ok. Followed those instructions but still no luck.
Managed to make all entries except…
Add Avast Group as Trusted Application
CIS > Defense+ > Define a new trusted application > Groups > “Avast”
There was no “Define a new trusted application” option listed under “Defence+” only “Trusted Files” I looked in there and there was no “groups” option so left that section out. Entered all the rest though including an entry in Avast “Exceptions” and flushed dns.
I then followed the path for “Firewall Events” but all was blank - no events listed anywhere. ???
I have had to uninstall Comodo again and revert to Windows firewall to access the internet. (websites and mail)
Can’t figure why no ‘events’ were logged.
Avast could be the problem here. Look under View Defense Events and see if Avast is continuously trying to access cmdagent.exe in memory; then the self protect of CIS will start eating cpu like crazy.
When that is the case add the CIS installation folder to the Avast Exclusions.
