Comodo Icedragon Dosent Work with Java 7 update 10 32bit

iIwould like to report and major issue between Comodo Icedragon 32 bit and Java Version 7 Update 10 . The web browser reports an error everytime i tried to re install it…After a while i made contact with support at geek buddy in hope for some help ,but after some houers we both realized this issue was bigger then first belived. The geek buddy did a wary good job trying everything to find the source of the bug , creds to him!. Its seems Like the flaw is with Java programming. The Geek buddy said that he would report this issue as well.

We tested Java 7 Update 10 on IE 9.0 and it worked just prefect…but somehow The most recent update from java crashes in Icedragon… :-TD

Can you provide a little more detail, as it’s working correctly here. Please describe the error and check the error console for related errors. To access the error console select Ctrl+Shift+J It might also be useful if you list the addons and plugins you have installed.

The majority of those errors are simply the way Mozilla interprets the layout on the page and really shouldn’t have any effect on the way Java operates. When I open that page I also see the CSS errors but the page loads correctly and displays Java working correctly - Image.

If you’re not seeing the ‘Your Java is working’ message, I’d check to make sure you’re not blocking java.exe in the firewall/D+/sandbox etc. If that seems ok, I’d be inclined to create a new profile and see how that goes.

How do i Upload an Print screen to this Forum so i can show my screen?

That is wary strange The test site “http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp” asks me to Install the missing plug in ,but as you can see its allready there… I have been doing that menny times alleready…

When an exspert from comodo was connected to my computer he uninstalled The anitvirus completly and same results .We did also create another Adminstrator account inn windows 7 so he could try from there ,same result

All i get on the testwindow to Java is a black screen. Above the testwindow its says :Something is wrong.Java is not working . Right Under The URL adressfield Comodo Icedragon is prompting to “addtional plugins are required to display all the media on this page” its done that like 20 times now. I installed Icedragon again today to see if i got anywhere.

Screenshot posting for beginners

In your list of enabled plug-ins you have:

Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.100.18

But not:

Java™ Platform

Was this an oversight or is this part of the Java system disabled/not installed?

No the Java Tm platform is not not In my Plugins List .So i guess its not Installed, but when Icedragon prompts for missing Plugin it installs and adds “Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.100.18” to the list.

I think the problem is here : http://www.java.com/en/download/help/firefox_java.xml
It was like i belived the screwup is with java and Firefox not my pc and they literally saying use another browser meanwhile

Unfortunately, it’s the Java™ Platform component you need. The Toolkit is just an ancillary part of the whole. Personally, I’d suggest trying a new profile, the instructions for which, I linked to in my earlier post.

Thanks! i will give it an try and see how that works

Hmm dosent seem to find the profil manager

When i enter this inn the run command : firefox.exe -P / i get prompted.

Can it be the case that Comodo Icedragon is considered a non standard Firefox installation.

Another way to acsess the profile manager ?

It works the same way as firefox, just create a shortcut to the icedragon executable and add the -p switch on the target.

Just a thought, can you check to see if the following exists:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\plugin2\npjp2.dll

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\plugin2\npjp2.dll- Yes found it

Is it the setupfile you aim at on the photo where i add this command -p or is it the shortcut on my screen who starts icedragon? Sry hehe im a noob with all this questions

When you installed IceDragon - assuming it was installed and not just unpacked - it should have created a shortcut on the desktop, if so add the ‘-p’ to the end of the ‘Target’ field. Failing that, you can create a new shortcut from the main executable, which can be found in C:\Program Files )x86\Comodo\IceDragon

Tried both i get promted when i add that command to the target field maybe is me who does this wrong

Try removing the “” (quotes)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Comodo\IceDragon\icedragon.exe -p

This is how its written in the target field right now still get prompted

This time its a bit diffrent

The error message suggests the path is incorrect, are you sure IceDragon is installed in that location?

I’ve just installed this on a test system and it works correctly with:

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Comodo\IceDragon\icedragon.exe” -p

It this doesn’t work you may want to consider reinstalling ID.

Steps done by Geek Buddy Support By Remote

1.Run IceDragon.exe -p from command prompt. → Create new profile on Icedragon

2.Open Java test page - same problem. Reinstall missing plugin → same problem on the test page.

3.Download Java installer for Windows OS x64, installed it → same problem on the test page.

4.Check about:plugins list - No Java ™ Runtime listed.

5.Check about:config list → All Java lines are correct.

6.Check about:plugins list - No Java ™ Platform listed

7.Checked Java Control Panel settings → All is set correct

The advice i got was try to uninstall Icedragon and Java completly and Install Icedragon again and Java installer for Windows OS x64. If that dosent work Nothing does…

To make a new User Profile In Icedragon you can do this :

C:>cd program files (x86)

C:\Program Files (x86)>cd comodo

C:\Program Files (x86)\Comodo>cd icedragon

C:\Program Files (x86)\Comodo\IceDragon>icedragon.exe -p

C:\Program Files (x86)\Comodo\IceDragon>

Hit the start button---->Locate the field “Search” > type: cmd -->Right click on cmd -Run as administrator

Type : cd… x 2 times to get rid of the system32 and Windows in the line

type : dir to locate the folder where Comodo Icedragon is Installed and follow the steps above.

Then you should get up the Profile manager (Note Be aware you have to locate on your computer where the browser is installed before you start with cmd. Also that im running 64 bit windows )

Are you installing the 64 bit Java runtime or the 32 bit. IceDragon is a 32 bit client and even though you’re running a 64 bit version of Windows, you still nee the appropriate runtime (32 bit) for your browser.

If you want to make sure yo entirely remove Java - which can be a pain - you might consider using JavaRa
