Hi, I have got a problem updating my free AV program. As far as I can see all relevant exes and dll’s are allowed, still I can only get an uodate when I set permission to “ällow all”.
What to do?
1st Of All Welcome To The Forums.
Make sure the AV Program has got full access to the internet first. If this is the case then take a screen shot of the logs at the time of AV Accessing the internet or save some logs and post them on here.
henry8,
If you have set the security Allow All and that works, it’s pretty much guaranteed there’s a rule blocking its access somewhere (or some aspect of the rule…).
Please do the following:
Go to Activity/Logs. Right-click and select “Clear all logs.”
With the firewall set to Custom, try to update AntiVir. (If you get a popup alert, check “Remember” and click Allow.) If/When it fails, go back to Activity/Logs. Right-click and select “Export to HTML.” Save the file, and reopen it.
Highlight the entries, and Copy them. Then Paste them into your next post here. You can edit your personal/external IP address for privacy if it shows. This will allow us to see what’s being blocked, to be able to fix it.

also i’v had problems the past 3 to 4 days to get updates becouse thay have been messing with there servers getting ready for the new version of avira antivir with rootkit detection thats to be out tommrow then it will get worse for updates for a while with every body trying to update
Cleared FW log, updated Antivir, Antivir tried several servers and gave up. Antivir’s log states “Critical fault when trying to connect to ”. Comodo FW log remains empty.
There is no problem with other internet traffic.
I just got a popup from Avira asking if I wanted to install rootkit protection. I clicked “yes”, lo and behold! the update started and was installed. I started a new update action just to see and apparently that was OK as it told me that everything was up to date. It seems lurkingatu2 was right, Thanks very much everybody, I think the problem is resolved.
Very good. We’ll go ahead and mark the topic resolved, and close it. If you find you need it reopened, just PM a Moderator (please include a link) and we’ll be glad to do so.
