Comodo Firewall Wont Stick Around

I am not getting the program to stay installed . It installs itself and does a scan for malware , but then after it is finished with the malware stage , it proceeds to uninstall itself and tell me to delete the icons and shortcuts that it could not . :o
Am i being stupid again ??? , or is it supposed to act this way (:AGY) . I thought it was supposed to stay installed as a program to help me fight the bad guys :P0l
Oh dear…oh dear…what shall i do :■■■■

So it actually succeeds to uninstall itself? What a weird behavior. Could there be some conflict with something else? An older version of CFP previously installed? Other system details?

LA

ps. welcome to the forum

When the install gets to the end it says to click the finish…and…Poof…that’s the last i ever see of the program , it says rollback finished and disappears .

Disabling the Windows firewall (and accordingly unplugging the network cable) before installing CFP could be an idea, but I doubt it’ll help. I have, unfortunately, no idea for this one. Once I experienced something similar with Adobe Reader 8, it just refused to installed and rolled back. Haven’t heard of CFP doing such a thing.

Is it possible to find any log file for the procedure, somewhere?

LA

Just a thought, opt out of doing the scan and see if that helps.

Matty

Yes …i have tried it without the scan…same result . Maybe it doesn’t like being downloaded by firefox :o but then again i did do a IE7 download and got the same results :THNK

It seems like CF simply fails to install. I had similar problem with “rollback” and “please delete shortcuts” with 3.0.13.

Ok, let’s try something. First of all search registry and hdd for “comodo”, delete (in case you don’t have any Comodo products installed) if found any. Create registry backup beforehand if you are not comfortable deleting something there (or create system restore point).

Go to start->run->services.msc.
Make sure terminal services is not disabled. Then set to “disabled” security center and windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ics). Stop windows management instrumentation.

Go to windows\system32\wbem and delete folder “repository” (to recycle bin).

Reboot and create restore point.

Try to install CF. If it will fail again, use restore point to roll back, delete any Comodo files left over.
Try to install again to disk partition’s root (which helped in my case months ago) or to another disk partition.

I’m having the same problem too. I got rid of Onecare, and would like to have this on my PC (Vista Premium on an HP A1730N AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+). Disabled firewall and defender after the first failed attempt. deleted the Program File folder, ran ccleaner to purge registry errors. I’ve noticed during installation of kernals, there is a pop up that very briefly flashes red, and I can’t read this pop up, nor get this to install. Getting frustrated, and any help will be most appreciated.

Hi Guys,
It’s definitely rolling back, installer launches cfpconfg.exe and after cfpconfg.exe is done, it checks if cfpconfg installed everything ok or not, if not it rolls back.

Although it’s very rare, in next setup, we will try to have explicit message about the reason of rollback.
So please wait for next update, most probably before March end.

Thanks

update didn’t change anything.

Downloaded the latest off the website today and tried to install on a fresh OS. Same issue as mentioned above - software refuses to install.

Can you be more specific. What OS? What other security software do you have. What error messages do you get?

That’s alot off stuff!!! :o
