Comodo firewall v5 keeps causing freezeups, how do I fix? (xp)

Now I’m quite fond of the software and would hate to give up on it without giving it a chance.
But half the time when I load my computer up, it freezes and my avast antivirus fails to activate properly, I can rarely even get task manager to open. When I do, I see components of either avast or adaware taking up a lot of resources and I sometimes get a messsage that wmi is trying to access something. I don’t know what to do.

Thanks.

I cant get any access at all now, unless I wait like 5 whole minutes. for a logn time i only see the avast icon in the toolbar. is avast conflciting with it?!?!?

I’m about to uninstall comodo, getting tired of this.

Hey and warm welcome to comodo forums!

Tell what os you have and other related info.

could you also provide us you d+ logs (CIS → defense+ → view d+ events)?

Are you using Avast 5? Then probably you will Avast hammering to access cmdagent.exe in memory. That triggers CIS’ self defence.

Proceed by adding the CIS folders to the exclusions list of Avast.

I have v6, but I will try anyway.
I am using just comodo firewall, not cis.
Did I post in the wrong forum?
If it ddoesnt get fixed I will post the logs cheers.

You’re in the right section/sector. disable avast’s sandbox and see if that helps.

With AVAST and actually ANY AV, you should

a) add the CIS directory to the AV exceptions so it doesn’t get scanned
b) add the AV to Comodos trusted applications

Anyway, your problem might also have other reasons. Try going to MORE - MANAGE MY CONFIGURATIONS, load one of the other profiles then load your good profile again (best save it to file first). Check if you can connect now, I was blocked that way a couple of times.

Are you sure you have enough RAM? If you have several program launched at startup, see if some could not be removed from the startup, that could boost a bit your computer.

I’ll change the exceptions.
I have enough ram.
Thanks.

add CIS in Avast’s exclusion and if that doesn’t help add avast here CIS —> Defense+ —> Computer Security Policy —> Defense+ Rules → click on Internet Security and then edit —> Use a Constom Policy —> customize —> Protection Settings —> Access Rights —> Find Interprocess Memory Accesses and click on Modify —> Allowed Memory Applications —> add —> Running process and then find the exe file. .

Ok, that seems to have done it. It was still occasionally slowing down, but I think that was due to core center becoming unstable on my computer, which I have now replaced. Cheers.
