I noticed that when the Comodo Firewall is enabled, it slows down everything in my computers so I disabled it and started using the Windows Firewall. I think there is too much security powered into the Comodo Firewall. My computer operates much faster with the Windows Firewall enabled. I am still using Comodo Antivirus. That will not change because it stops malware, spyware and viruses right in their tracks before it gets into the computer. I love Comodo. I just don’t like the slow down I was experiencing. Windows Firewall should be fine to use with Comodo Antivirus, correct?
Hello antone,
Thank you for your feedback.
We will look into it deeply, I will have our QA get in contact with you to understand your slow-down issue details. We would first like to understand your conditions on your computer and catch the root cause of the problem.
Comodo loves you back :-TU
Kind Regards
Buket
Thank you very much!
I changed the topic title to a more descriptive one and removed the all caps in the title.
Does the Windows Firewall work well with the Comodo Antivirus while you investigate this issue if the Comodo Firewall slowing down my system?
They work together without a problem.
Great! Thanks! I’ll wait 'til I hear from one of you looking into Comodo Firewall slowing down my system. It might be the Defense that causes the slow down. I used to have another antivirus years ago and had to disable the Defense in it. Maybe the same thing is occurring with the Comodo Firewall. Btw, my OS is Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
Try running the clean up tool for the anti virus program you had installed years ago. Sometimes an uninstaller leaves behind a driver or service which may interact and cause strange issues. Eset has a list of removal tools for the most common av products: [KB146] Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software .
I no longer have that computer. I was just telling you what I did to make my computer faster. I am on a Windows 10 Pro 64 bit computer. A long, long time ago, I was on a Windows XP Pro 32 bit computer. Big difference now!
For my experience, slow downs can be related to the AV part of CIS, not with FW or D+. Now I’m using CFW with a third party AV and my PC is pretty fast (Windows 10 Home 64bit)
Well not for me. I am using Comodo Antivirus with Windows Firewall and I am happy with the speed of my computer. When I use the Comodo Firewall, it will slow down the speed of the programs launching. Maybe the Comodo Firewall is scanning the browsers and programs before they are launched and that is where the slow down comes from. Oh and I would never trust any other antivirus software. I, too, used another third party antivirus. I sent an email virus to someone’s computer because I wasn’t using Comodo Antivirus. I found out I had over 614 PUP’s. I am NEVER changing that again. So just for now, I am going to be using Comodo Antivirus with Windows Firewall and my computer is fine. I would like to be able to use the Comodo Firewall one day when there is a program update.
The only real time monitoring comes from the AV. D+ is more an on access functionality. FW filters all the traffic, but I’ve never experienced a big slow down. If your problem is with the browser, maybe it’s the website filtering on the FW settings. You can try to disable it and see
I have got the Comodo Firewall enabled and the Windows Firewall disabled. Having the website filtering disabled seems to be working out fine; but is it safe to disable the website filtering since it says Recommended?
If you use chrome or firefox, you can use an extension to block both malicious websites and advertisements. Good examples are ublock origin (my personal best), adguard and adblock plus
Sounds like it’s not a good idea to disable the website filtering. You only mentioned Chrome or Firefox. What about the Chromium and Firefox based browsers like Comodo Ice Dragon and Chromodo? What about Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer? In the mean team, I will re-enable the website filtering just to be on the safe side 'til there is a solution to this issue. We may need an update for CIS to fix this issue. I may need to re-enable Windows Firewall since I am re-enabling the website filtering and I will disable Comodo Firewall. This is a complicated issue.
I’m on to something now. I just disabled the Sandbox. Is that a good idea or not? What about the Viruscope? Is that something I can disable as well? It’s obvious that CIS must be scanning the browsers and the programs and there will a few seconds worth of slow down while scanning them.
Any chrome extension will work with nearly any chromium - based browser. About Edge or Internet Explorer, they have their own Web shield. About sandbox and viruscope, they should not affect the browser (unless you run it sandboxed). So, it’s up to you, I’ve just told you what the reason of the slow down could be and what my configuration is

I am back to my original plan. Disable Comodo Firewall and re-enable Windows Firewall. Comodo Firewall is definately the cause of my slow down. When I have the Windows Firewall enabled, my computer runs much faster. Like I said, CIS needs an update to fix this bug issue.
For developpers to do so, better you fill an official bug report, they will thank you for that :-TU
