Why is this happening? Any browser started from the widget as a Sandboxed Task is blocked from Internet access by the Firewall.
Looking at the Firewall Events Log each virtualized browser application is listed with:
Action: Blocked
Direction: Out
Protocol: TCP
Source IP: 10.1.2.2
Source Port: range of IPs
As soon as any of the browsers be it Dragon, IceDragon, IE11, Chrome, etc., is activated by the Comodo Widget all of its TCP traffic out is blocked. The browsers are all listed by COMODO as trusted programs and work without problem unvirtualized.
How can I write a firewall rule that somehow allows TCP traffic for the web browsers but only when virtualized. Is that even possible as I can’t see how?
Do I need to write a new Sandbox rule? Or should I try to write a Firewall rule?
I can’t fathom that this is normal.
It happens whether I have MBAM, Eset Nod32 active or not.
I have re-installed this program several times and always the browsers work normally but are firewalled when virtualized and and the whole point is to browse virtualized.
When I tested this, a firewall popup displayed. I told it to treat thr browser as a browser.
I have Internet connection. I retested this. I no longer am asked, and I still have my Internet connection (pages are displayed)
Suddenly, all is working. Sadly, why is “The Great Unknown”.
Battled this for five days and at least several dozen reinstalls. The only thing I did differently is that I had immediately switched to the configuration of the cruelsister videos heretofore. This time, having switched yet again from Firewall to CIS, I allowed the Antivirus scan to occur fully prior to switching the User Configuration from, in this case, Internet Security to Proactive Security.
After reboot, the HIPS was still active and, for the first time, I was asked when the Widget’s browser buttons were clicked whether to allow. I was finally able to specify treat as web browser. I believe that disabling HIPS and setting the Firewall Settings to “Do NOT show popup alerts - Block Requests” as suggested in cruelsister videos too quickly never allowed the opportunity to be asked to specify the browsers correctly.
So fixed, though considerably grayer and balder.
Thanks for responding!
