Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.13.153 RC3 Released

Egemen,

this version have the updated portuguese translation that sent to Umesh yesterday?

Regards

Still Problems with UPH cleanup service.

The error message suggests my account has insufficient privileges.

After uninstalling RC2, I restarted my PC and uphc started correctly (no error message).

Installed RC3, restarted, error returns.

Only problems so far is the freezing with Arovax Shield and User Profile Hive Cleanup not starting.

I have noticed with RC3 that every time I close Outlook, I get an OLE alert for explorer.exe using Outlook to connect. What’s really odd is that explorer.exe is already the parent for Outlook…

Once I realized this happened every time I closed Outlook, I remembered that it happened the same way with RC2. I can’t say for sure every time there, but I think so…

I don’t remember with RC1.

Sorry, we’ve gone through these so fast, I haven’t spent as much time with each as normal…

LM

Edit 10/11/07: Overnight I recalled that with RC1, and some with RC2, the OLEs that kept occuring were for Office, and it happened when closing Word or Outlook, but not with Excel.

With RC1 & RC2, I chose to show alerts for All applications, and alert frequency set to High. With RC3, I chose not to show alerts for Certified apps, and alert frequency to Medium.

Can you please post your full configuration and other security software installed?

Not sure. It should be the latest.

Just downloaded and will test it in a while.

I will review and update all the greek translation. Hopefully I’ll finish in a few hours.

ps. I would love to have another member to review the translated greek too.

Ok thx. It is fixed. Release wont have this problem.

Egemen

Hi Egemen,

You mean the next release will have this UHPClean problem fixed?

Regards

 1. Installation Bug: During the install if I select the “advanced mode” and press “next” then it is impossible to go back. (if someone changes his mind and want to use the “default-novice mode” he will be forced to install CFP, reboot, uninstall, reboot and install it again) :o

 2. I could not upload the images to ImageShack. I had to disable CFP for succeeding. Is it a new bug?

 3. When I select the side bar (block all, custom, allow all) in the Summary window and then close the CFP window, the mouse remain hooked at this bar. This can be a major issue since this bar can be moved with the scroll wheel of the mouse.

 4. I don’t like the green color when CFP is in “allow all” state. I think a color that will allert the user like yellow or better grey is more appropriate

 5. Some minor bugs of the greek windows during the install wizard

this one is taken in “custom mode” when I move the mouse over the CFP tray icon. ( “allow all” and “block all” appear correctly)

Yep.

Yes this is because of a bug which incorrectly calculates the bytes Out/In. It is fixed. Out is not 0 but it is shown as 0.

I noticed in the Guide and in some other places separate rules for In and Out.

I know there’s a “Both” option that allows incoming AND outgoing rules in one rule set. So is it better to split those up and will it work if I set it to “Both”?

 1. Great to hear that Egemen’s fixed the UHPClean issue.

 2. CFPs Log contents are lost on a reboot/shutdown unless CFP is manually closed first. Egemen, I’m not quite sure why this issue isn’t being addressed.

 3. I’m still concerned about the Application Monitor’s habit of automatically changing, merging and/or removing rules without the users explicit authorisation. I fear this might cause confusion and/or frustration when users attempt to craft their own tighter application rules, which CPF seems to allow them to do.

 4. Known Application Wizard DOES NOT WORK. Excuse me for shouting. ;D

On seeing pandlouk’s post, I tested uploading images to ImageShack. But, I could not replicate the problem as it work fine (using the web page’s browse & load).

Overall impressions… first rate. It is really getting there and throughly deserves the Pro suffix. Well done Egemen, my thanks to you & your team.

OK, I’m really annoyed now.

When using firefox 5 minutes ago to download 10 items from ftp (yes, I know I should be using FTP software
I had a comodo pop up box asking me if I wanted to allow synaptics mouse driver to access the internet via firefox.

I clicked deny, only to find that firefox had been completely banned and all my downloads were terminated.

This happened as I was typing on another forum and clicked on a drop-down-box on a web page !!! (at the exact same second)

The log suggested that the mouse driver had tried to modify the browser by special windows messages!! - That’s what mice do in their normal operation! Click the mouse on minimize = windows minimized, etc.

Why does clicking the mouse button on a link in a browser fool comodo into thinking it is accessing the net?

Why is ALL access to firefox blocked when I clicked deny?

Why didn’t my downloads continue - they had nothing to do with synaptics.

This is NOT a ‘feature’ ffs.

Just acknowledge this as a problem PLEASE.

When installing software, I close all apps and as many processes as reasonable, then start them again.

With the current full version of CFP it was possible to Exit via the icon then stop Cmdagent.exe. After the installation was done, Cmdagent could be restarted via Services.

With this RC it can’t and the only way seems to be a reboot ???

There’s a snag though: just restarting CFP from the desktop icon (the obvious way for most people) seems to work but protection is ‘poor’ - this isn’t obvious from the icon and there’s no warning given. :o

Peter.

Hi you guys,

you said you’ve solved the problem with the BOSD’s. So I said to myself, let’s try it. So I installed the RC3 and I restart the system. And guess what I get? A BOSD. So I needed to start windows with the last know working configuration and as always cpf doesn’t work then. So it seems the problem with the BOSD isn’t solved. At least, not for me. But I want to help you find the problem. I’ll send you guys a dumpfile the moment I find one. And here’s the content of the BOSD (I guess you know it already).

A problem has been found and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Technical information:

***STOP: 0x00000050 (0xF79DE000, 0x00000001, 0x805813B7, 0x00000000)

That’s a BSOD, it comes from Blue Screen Of Death :). Sad to hear :frowning:

I know it is Blue Screen Of Death. I must have mistyped it. My mistake ;D. I just reinstalled it and tried again with all security software turned off. I thought maybe that was causing the problem, but again the BSOD. But this time, it was slight different.

BSOD I got

I didn’t find a dumpfile yet, but I’ll keep searching. When I find one, I’ll put it here
