Comodo Firewall Port Numbers

Hi Comdo Forum

I’m not sure if this post is in the right place?

I notice that the recent version of Comodo Firewall does not have a facility for allowing me to choose which ports I allow to stay open on my system? For example, which ones I use for email POP and SMTP.

I am using the latest free Comodo Internet Security for Windows 7, installed yesterday.

Much appreciated.

Firewall tab → Advanced → Network Security Policy → Choose between application or global rule, application rule is safer.

My apologies for not replying sooner - I seem to have not put a notification on my post?

You may be bramaged, but you’re a bramaged angel! Thank you very much, I can sort that out straight away. :-TU

Whille I’m on the subject of ports; They seem to be a pretty confusing phenomenon, could you reccommend any “light” reading about them?

You can search wikipedia for “TCP and UDP port” or google “internet ports explained” for a little “light” reading. They are not too complex, they just make it “easy” for your pc to direct different internet traffic in and out. Programs allowed to “reserve” ports it wants to use for connections.

Thanks, I’ve been given some links by forum members. I’ll “Bing” it when I’ve got time.

FYI - Global Rules are generally used only for inbound connections, like P2P applications and Remore Access apps.
