Comodo Firewall - Erroneous update advisory.

I’m currently running Comodo Firewall 5.4.189322.1355 (at the time of this post, the latest version). When CF advised me of an update the first thing I did was go to the product landing page and click the download button so that I could see the current version number and change log.

Both indicated that the version I’m currently using is the latest one, but under the assumption that the Comodo team did not update the change log yet I went ahead and performed the upgrade which required me to restart my machine.

After the restart the version remained exactly the same and what’s worse, I continue to receive the “There’s a new version” system tray balloon at every restart, which is starting to bother me.

My smart guess is that perhaps there isn’t a new version of the firewall module but a new version of CIS (the entire package)—even so, the advisory should stop.

I know I could always disable the “Always check for new updates” box but then I wouldn’t be advised when there really is an update.

On a different tangent, where can I make suggestions for Comodo Firewall (to be addressed by the Comodo Firewall product team)? It’s a good product but with a number of product improvements could seriously be outstanding.

There is indeed an update. However, it is a two part process. The first update is to download the binary which allows 5.4 clients to update to version 5.5. The next update will update the application.

If you still feel you are experiencing a bug, you’ll need to post in the proper format.

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation

I could believe two updates, but the thing is asking to update a third time today. I updated twice yesterday with reboots after each update and now it is asking a third time today. Version reported is 5.5.195786.1382
Win XP Service pack 3 with updates.

There was an issue with the updater and some clients had the wrong file sent to them. The update this morning remedies that.

We really would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

Thank you

Dennis

Unfortunately we do need this issue to be reported in the full right format, and with all the information we have asked for, if we are to forward it to verified issues.

For the moment I am going to move it to the Orphaned/Resolved child board. If you do edit your post to create a complete issue report in standard format, and PM an active mod, we will of course consider moving it to verified reports.

The devs only look at the Orphaned/Resolved board if they have time, so please do edit the post and PM an active mod if you want it fixed.
