Comodo Firewall and KAV 2011

I have been running Comodo Firewall with Defense+Security Version 5.3.181415.1237 and have just installed KAV2011. But CPU is running at 100%. Is there a setting on KAV 2011 I should disable? I certainly don’t want to remove Comodo Firewall but don’t think Comodo Anti-Virus is quite right yet. I want an Anti-Virus that is compatible with Comodo but that isn’t so sensitive that it is prone to False Positives. I thought Kaspersky fits that bill but it doesn’t seem to be compatible with Comodo Firewall.

Hey thefly.

What did you have before KAV? Could also provide us a screenshot of you d+ logs?

Previously I had Mcafee VirusScan Enterprise. Here is a compressed 7z of the Export of my Defense+ log.

What process or processes are causing the 100% cpu usage?

Try running the Mcafee removal tool to make sure it is totally uninstalled. You can find a link here: ESET Knowledgebase .

CPU has dropped from 100% now but the system is still running like treacle or molasses. There is nothing that seems to have unduly large CPU usage but the system is still very very slow. I even tried to for a short time deactivate the Defense+ and reboot but it was still very very slow. Slower than when i had McAfee VirusScan
on the system.
McAfee is fine in a corporate environment like at work that’s why I have it but at home I like to use some legitimate software that are not normally used in a corporate environment. Like Email password recovery utilities and the likes.

When you say slow, is it delays and short freezes? Like when you open a folder or click on menus?

Slow boot and/or shutdown?

Or constant HDD access? (you already said CPU usage is now fine)

How do you define slow?

I wasn’t able to read from that 7z file that you attacked but I was able to read the source code and there I saw that you’re useing \Process Lasso\ProcessGovernor.exe that is trying to Access Memory to CIS. So I suggest you don’t use this ProcessGovernor.exe; what you will see is CIS self-defense which might be the reason to the computers freezing and so on.

There is a way to give grant ProcessGovernor.exe Access Memory to CIS but that’s something I don’t advice you to do.

to next time: It would be nice if you could put the pic online by going to Additional Options → Attach → Choose File so that everyone can see it :). if you need more attach more than one pic click on more attachments.

Does KAV have a HIPS component? If so please disable that and see if that helps.

Hi Valentin N You should use 7zip to open the 7z file. As to Process Lasso and CIS I have using them for years together with no problems. As to the image I preferred using the export function. I don’t see the difference. Anyway I have given up with KAV and am using Panda Cloud AntiVirus with no apparent problems.

Thanks Eric J and Valentin N and all for your help. I have decided to try Panda Cloud AntiVirus and so far it seems good and compatible with Comodo Firewall and Defense +.
Cheers.
The Fly.

I have same combination on win xp pro sp2 but they works friendly.
comodo firewall + defense+
kav2011 + proactive defense

Hey and warm welcome to comodo forums!
