Im new to Comodo Firewall, having used ZA Pro for many years, but got sick of the amount of resource it uses.
Just a couple of questions.
CF seems to want Thunderbird, Firefox to act as servers, ( which if not allowed the TB or FF wont work.) So I have allowed, how do I turn of, or deny this, Once allowed.
When do you turn of Learning mode.
I have tried to find the answers, but obviously haven’t read the right places. Any comments please.
Also I am behind a router. When I do a leak test it shows most ports are Closed, with only a few Stealthed. If I turn of CF I get the same results, any comments would also be appreciated.
You have created rules for these programs, to edit them - go to the Comodo firewall interface, choose Application Monitor under the Security tab, and there are your program rules.
From what I’ve read before, you don’t really have to turn off the Learning mode. The easiest thing is to leave it.
“Also I am behind a router. When I do a leak test it shows most ports are Closed, with only a few Stealthed. If I turn of CF I get the same results, any comments would also be appreciated.”
When you go to the stealth test site, is the IP they show for you really your own (assigned to your router by your ISP)? Sometimes such a site will somehow come up with an invalid IP, and then the results are not valid. This used to happen to me with my old ISP, using grc.com, and caused needless anxiety.
The IP address as per the bottom right hand corner of CF is quite different from that which the leak test says is the IP address. Im not sure how I find the IP address as assigned by the ISP.
Hi grandpaj. Glad you received an answer to your question.
Your second question is actually off-topic, but I’ll answer anyway:
As Ravenheart hinted, when performing any port-scan from websites, it scans your router instead of your computer or ISP IP. That’s because it has to go through your router before it can ever reach your computer. And what you’re referring is NOT a leak-test but a regular port-scanning test to see if they’re open, closed, or “stealthed”. To find your ISP, there are several methods, one of which is in the CFP Gui itself, where there’s an arrow that switches between the ISP, router, and other device IP’s. Another is to go to Start > Run > type cmd > type ipconfig/all
