[Windows XP SP3]
NOTE: Not sure if its a comodo issue or if its something on my machine (see Below), but I can say CFW 5.12 never did this at all. Still doesn’t either. 5.12 has been about as solid as I could expect. Anyway…
Recently installed the firewall portion of 7_4115 and within six minutes after install the comodo service stopped (cmdagent.exe) leaving the widget with a bright red banner pointing out “At Risk”. After rebooting, everything seemed fine. Then, went on-line to start testing and setting up some rules. Within 15 minutes or so same thing happens!. I’m now at risk, because cmdagent.exe is gone again. No service at all. Yikes! Oh, and the diagnostics didn’t find a problem either. Here are the events from the comodo event log. I’m only putting up these few because its the same pattern of event warnings and errors every time, just more of them. The pattern here is listed from most recent event (cmdagent.exe gone) to last event (cmdagent.exe functions):

Now here’s the rub folks, the RPC service never stopped. Last I checked its near impossible to shut that down thru normal means, so what gives? Something else I should mention is that somewhere along the way, I started checking the dependencies of various services and windows spits out an error dialog telling me the RPC service was unavailable. Funny thing was, the actual RPC service was still marked as started. Very odd, as I’ve Never seen this before. Not ever!. As I type this now (offline), I don’t seem to be having any problem checking service dependencies. Something is not quite right somewhere.
Any comments or suggestions appreciated. Otherwise, back to CFW 5.12 or maybe I’ll take another ■■■■■ at privatefirewall again. Oh well…
Thanks,
