comodo closes itself on update

Every time i upgrade Comodo online, the firewall closes itself leaving my pc unprotected.
I was wondering if it would be better, in next upgrades, to just shut the program after sending a message to the user, so i can first disconnect from the net.

Do you use the program updater in CIS or do you download the installer, then uninstall the old version and then install the new version?

When you use the program updater CIS is still running (check if cmdagent.exe is running; that is the process doing the protective work). When doing a clean install it will start Windows Firewall.

In both cases you are protected.

However, cmdagent.exe is no longer shown in the processes list… somewhere i read Comodo install its self in the kernal so it still protects you whenever even when comodo is closed…?

Do you have “Show processes of all users” enabled in Task manager?

Cmdagent.exe is the service doing all the work in conjunction with inspect.sys firewall driver.

In the uninstalling process Windows Firewall gets switched on so you will be safe.

I use the program updater in CIS but I never checked if cmdagent.exe is closed or not.
I only noticed that the process ‘cfp.exe’ (a user process) closes itself.

I had to update CIS from v 5.4 to 5.5 on my XP and Win 7 installations in VM Ware and checked to see if cmdagent.exe would get shut down. But it didn’t.

Cmdagent.exe is the process doing the actual protection work; with that shut down you would be unprotected. Cfp.exe is only the client program that gives the user to set CIS; it communicates with cmdagent.exe to tell it how to behave.

Your security was never compromised.

Thanks for the clear answer.
