I have been using comodo since i built my new system last spring. windows 7.
This morning it is popping up warnings about everything. I haven’t made any changes to my system or installed anything new in the past couple days.
So far it has not recognized:
C:/windows/system32/taskhost.exe
google chrome
c:/windows/system32/taskeng.exe
c:/windows/system32/svchost.exe
c:/program files/commonfiles/microsoftshared/windowslive/wlidsvc.exe
c:/program files (x86)/windows media player/wmplayer.exe
What is it doing??
Should i try reinstalling? it says everything is up to date and working fine… my virus database updated an hour ago, and says 0 threats found, but it is acting very strange since then…
defense+ will give you alerts when it doesn’t recognize the programs/application that are running. click on allow if you’re 100% sure that’s a safe application.
you should not reinstall anything.
if you have skype you may add me and I will help you
Something has changed with that last virus database update… these are applications I use everyday, and then suddenly today everything I do triggers an alert. It is beyond annoying. Why could I use the Chrome browser yesterday with no issues, and today it acts like it has never seen it before? and basic windows components?
I don’t want to just approve everything in case there is an issue, but sandboxing everything can’t be the right answer, right?
HIPS-based security software are annoying. all unknown files will be autosandboxed to the sandbox and in case you need to see what’s sanboxed follow the following operations: CIS —> summary —> defense+ —> application(s) running in sandbox.
I appreciate you are trying to be helpful… but these are all programs and windows official components that it recognised yesterday and today is saying it has never heard of … media player? or notepad?
I have been using Comodo for 6 months and have never had this happen before, and you saying that this is normal doesn’t reassure me. How can things that it recognised as trusted yesterday not be in its database today? everything I do on this computer suddenly triggers an alert. It did not do this yesterday. or last week.
Now it doesn’t recognize my IE index.dat file… and notepad. and the built in windows calaculator…how can basic windows components suddenly not be in comodo’s database?
Did you do anything to fix it? or just go through and re-approve all these things? I am frustrated beyond belief. Everything I do now triggers warnings, and it has apparently never heard of windows or microsoft now.
Same problem here. Suddenly CIS/D+ doesn’t recognise explorer.exe and then it doesn’t recognise anything and it became so annoying that I have removed CIS and installed Free Agnitum OSS until I can be sure that the problem is fixed. :-TD
this how you solve you “Trusted Software Vendors was lost” problem.
Download the attached and extract it on your desk (so that you have it visible).
restart the computer and press F8 and select safe mode.
Now do these steps: desktop —> My computer —> program —> comodo —> comodo internet security —> database. Keep database window open, now you delete all files besides the files that are called pending, now copy what’s in database_CIS in database.
Rhiana, please don’t be put off by unhelpful and even condescending answers from some persons. Yes there is a problem, and I know there is a problem because I had very similar problems with suddenly winword.exe and chrome.exe being sandboxed. I had a fresh re-install of CIS firewall plus D+ installed over a week ago and to keep tings simply I had D+ on several days of training mode and sandbox off, because they are so difficult to manually configure. I then opened everything and worked on each application over those few days so that all scenarios were captured. Then 2 days ago I turned on sandbox and then D+on sclean mode, not even safe mode. All was Ok for 24 hours and then yesterday all hell broke loose.
I am glad, but sad, that others have the same problem, so I know it is not just me, but really Comodo need to dramatically improve their quality control and consistency. I have used Comodo for several years now and whilst they have good products, perhaps sometimes the best, a lot of that excellence is wasted and indeed nulllified sometimes by stupid, even dangerous, quality issues.
here is how you solve this how you solve you “Trusted Software Vendors was lost” problem.

You will get my vendor list, which that’s better than having damaged/broken files (my point of view), so delete the files that you find unnecessary.
