I’ve got CB 3 installed, and am considering installing CB 4. But have a couple of questions before doing so. At one time, CB 4 was going to be a paid, rather than a free version (but there would be a stripped down free version available). Am I correct in my assumption that this is no longer so–that is, that the CB 4 free version is a full version, just like CB 3, and that the paid version is for those who wish to have more than the 5 GB of online backup space that comes with the free version? Second question. Will a CB script exported and saved from the CB 3 version run OK and work with the CB 4 version?
during beta version 4 was going to have a free and paid version but many users asked Melih (the CEO) to keep it free so he agreed. version 4 is completely free will all features
Thanks. Do you know if CB 4 will execute backup jobs exported to scripts from CB 3? I have exported scripts for all of my backup jobs, which would permit me to reintigrate them into the new version, without having to recreate all of them from scratch, IF CB 4 will run CB 3 scripts.
i dont know sorry
maybe Emanuel will help you
he is a dev for comodo backup he usually comes on early mornings and late night
Thanks. Will keep an eye out for Emanuel. Appreciate your help.
Yes, scripts from CB 3 will run with CB 4.
Thanks
Emanuel–Thanks very much. Perhaps you can answer another question for me. Some time ago, I submitted a problem about CB 3. It had to do with the fact that after about 3 months of use, the Interface became very sluggish, and eventually, virtually unusable, though if one could get to the proper button to push, the actual program seemed to function normally. Unistallation and reinstallation fixed the problem, but after 2 or three months of use, the interface would gradually begin to deteriorate again. The response I got to my question from Tech Support was that this was a known problem, and that it would be fixed in the next update to the program. A couple of minor updates did NOT fix it, bso I then concluded that it would need to be a major version change to get the fix. Do you know about this problem, and whether or not CB 4 resloves it? I love the program, but it is a real nuisance to have to uninstall and reinstall it every 2 or 3 months to get it to work.
is CB4 stable?
Valentin-- Not sure if your question is addressed to me, but if it is, I don’t know yet (haven’t installed it yet). That’s sort of what I’m trying to find out.
it’s to anyone who has tried it
its stable but in my opinion still buggy and the ftp functionality isnt there so i dont use it
What do you mean ?
There is option to backup/restore to/from ftp. Do you have any issues with it?
Thanks
yes there are many issues with it. first off comodo is a security company and there is no option to use secure ftp, seems ridiculous to me. Second incremental backups do not work when ftp is the destnation. I have tried zip, cbu, and simple copy. Everytime i set one up for, lets say my pictures folder, it runs a full backup first then i remove or add some pics to the folder just to test CB and run the incremental backup it makes a full backup again. you have told me that simple copy doesnt work with incremental ftp backups then why is it in the GUI? if the user picks an incremental backup with ftp is the destination, simple copy should not be an option since it doesnt work. i have made bug reports for this a few times but nothing seems to change
Emanuel-- Did you see my follow-up question in reply number 6 in this thread?
No, I’m not sure what is your question.
Reply number 6 in this thread is mine.
Thanks
Emanuel–
That’s odd. In my display, Reply number 6 is from me. In any case, I have copied the question, and will repost it here:

You are right, sorry, I counted replies including the first post.
I see the question now.
The problem was caused by too many events gathering in history and scheduling list.
The issue was fixed in v4.
Emanuel-- Great! I appreciate your time and effort in resolving these questions for me. Thanks again.
