CIS keeps asking me about the same app, one that i have SET as a safe application, also one that i have opened a port specifically for it(and it DOES try to connect though that same port)
This is problem lately with CIS where i eventually have to shut it down completely(and uninstall it a few times also, since it seems to still block stuff when its not running)
Problem is I have the port set to allow traffic both ways, set it to allow a certain application, have also set it to ‘allow’ that running process, and it STILL keeps popping up the same little box asking if I would like to allow that application access. Yes, the request popup is identical, the ports don’t change, the remote ip does not change, the running process does not change, NOTHING changes, yet CIS keeps asking, over and over and over(and never actually allowing it access to the net) if I would like to allow it though. Please suggest any fixes i could do, beyond port forwarding(done), setting ‘safe’ processes(done), or pretty much trashing my firewall completely(done) and let something out.
For now, Comodo is off my computer, because up until this most recent update, I haven’t had this problem.
No, it started when i was trying to install it, then (once i got it installed by disabling comodo) it asked continuously after when i was trying to open it.
All settings were set to allow it(port in/out, udp, etc all set to allow) and the process also was set to allow. It works NOW that i uninstalled comodo and reinstalled but did not update.(The most recent update)
the app was a game called planeshift. It blocked both the install file AND the installed files when I tried to run it.
I figured out the problem though. CIS was not saving ANY settings(When I restarted CIS before this last reinstall, it had the settings from sometimes yesterday, anything I ‘accepted’ or ‘blocked’ between then and when I just uninstalled it were gone. Once I reinstalled after uninstall (and not updated) it remembers all settings as proper(but now I have to re-add everything i had from before)
Any more info I may provide to track the problem down please request, I will watch this thread today.
What configuration is CIS set to? Look under Miscellaneous → Manage My configurations.
How is your setting for Firewall Behaviour settings? It can be found under Firewall → Advanced. Can you also tell us the setting for Defense + settings. It can be found under Defense + → Advanced.
How did you open the port for that game? Can you show us a screenshot of your Global Rules? They can be found under Firewall → Adavnced → Network Security Policy → Global Rules.
Can you rephrase your problem short and concise. I have a hard time trying to figure out what is the problem.
Try placing the firewall and D+ into training mode. Then run the game (I play this too, sometimes) do all the things in game you can. After a short time stop and exit the game. CIS should have learnt what it needs, so now you can use what ever settings you had before.
It’s not recommended to use training mode for everyday use.
um sorry no I have reinstalled and have not updated. Because i have not updated, the issue has not presented itself, and Ive already grown bored of planeshift(LOL honestly lame game for the effort to ‘try’ it)
But have never had this problem with any other gameguard’ed or hackshield game.(other issues, yes, but truth is, if google could have fixed this, WHY would I be here.)
Sorry to sound rude, but please look past the obvious, since like i just said, if google could have found the answer, why would i bring it here, where the issue starts?
I’m trying to help u track down a problem that I should have spent more time documenting(screen shots, logs, etc) but I did not, and I really do not want to go though that again just to have to uninstall/reinstall all over(working now, can’t afford the downtime)
I can try later today to duplicate the bug/problem, but not for another 9 hrs or so.
