Hello everybody-
First, thank you Comodo for making a valuable, free firewall!
Second, I’m having an issue with Comodo Firewall seeming to disable the ability of Firefox to download files. When I am running Comodo (fresh after I’ve installed it) it does not allow me to download any file (ie DVD Decrypter, AIM, etc) from the internet via Mozilla Firefox.
However, when I exit Comodo Firewall, the files all downloaded perfectly fine.
My Comodo Firewall settings:
-Firewall security level: train with safe mode
-Defense+ security level: clean PC mode
I even added Firefox to my trusted programs!
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Tucker

Hi tucker.knutson
Welcome to the Comodo Forums
I had trouble a while back with FF downloading, and I finally downloaded the Firefox Beta 3 and have had no trouble since. That was 2 months ago.

I think thats the D+ interfering with writing to the hard drive.
Have you had any issues with FF Beta 3 yet JJasper?
Thanks for the prompt reply, btw!

Hi tucker.knutson
Not a speck of trouble. It runs as smooth as version 2. but downloads a whole lot better.
John
Set D+ onto learning mode and then try downloading if your not into betas. But the new FF is quite nice.
Thanks both-
I’ll definitely try that !

Not sure if that means the Mozilla file seemed altered to Comodo due to FF2 messing with it, or if Comodo automatically stops FF2 downloads…?
Thanks both-
I’ll definitely try that !

Well COMODO does log that it was doing something with the downloaded file. So set D+ into learning that should do the trick.

A lot of these problems seem to be n00b related, which is a distraction from some of the more pressing issues.
I would have thought that they decided to name the product, Comodo Firewall Pro for a reason.
Maybe Comodo should release a Comodo Firewall Junior ?
Isn’t “Powerful and Easy to Use” an oxymoron, as in CLIs versus GUIs? :THNK

This is a support forum. All issues will be answered to the best of our abilities regardless of how ‘noob’ it is.
If I may, I am a ‘n00b’ as you call it – to Comodo that is, certainly not to computing in general. I am CCNA, but still find adapting to and learning Comodo to be non-instantaneous. axl, you were a n00b also at one time. Did you get to where you are now with zero help from anyone else?
That aside, Comodo looks to be a fantastic tool–not perfect, but definitely a real force in the battle against malware.
Back on topic, I have Vista (Ugh) and FF. Have not had a problem with downloading. Then again, I may have allowed and remembered something I shouldn’t have. THAT seems to be the stumbling block for me. Nearly all of the alerts say “whatever” usually happens when you are installing or updating something–but you aren’t. The application is declared ‘safe,’ so what are you to do (rhetorical)?
I have many questions, but am reading the manual and here–will get better and better with it. And I may ask some questions axl thinks are distracting. So be it.
I am indeed a Comodo noob. Thats what the forum was for I thought?
I changed the Defense+ Security Mode to Training which did allow me to download via FF2. I still will upgrade to beta 3, however.
Thanks for all the help!
Hi,
Before switching to FF 3 beta, try modify ruleset under computer security policy: firefox.exe->edit->access rights->protected files/folders->allow->apply everywhere.
