Comodo 3.0.20.320 recognizing programs

Hello, it has been a while since I posted here because I didn’t have any problems to inquire about. I was using Comodo version 2.4.184 (something like that) when I realized there were 6 newer ones. So last night I installed Comodo Firewall 3.0.20.320 after uninstalling 2.4.184 first.

I think it will take this new version some time to recognize all programs on my computer which are deemed safe because each time I open a new program I get the pop-up message allow or deny or block. Sometimes when only one program has been opened the pop-up asks me the same thing 9-10 times and I get tired of clicking allow and remember this.

My question…In the 2.4 version there was an option to scan the computer via Comodo so the firewall knew each program installed. I can’t seem to find that in version 3.0.20.320 Is there an option for this or is there another way to accomplish what I want Comodo to do so it will accept my programs when opened.

I have used Comodo for quite some time so I do know how to use it. It’s just this new version is a little different than what I am use to. Can someone help me with this and if so that would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing. Is there an on-line manual for this new version?

No need for a manual when its all right there in front of you under miscellaneous. Comodo 3.0 is not only a firewall but also a HIPS. Host Intrusion Protection. This is why you get alerts. Each one being different colors. You need to read each one and apply the appropriate rule. There are firewall alerts and D+ alerts.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am accepting the pop-ups because they have to do with programs I already have on my computer. Now if a pop-up appeared when I was just online doing nothing, I would worry then.

If u installed it last night, then defense+ should be set by default at “Clean PC mode” and consider all the programs in your pc safe.

Defense+ → Advanced → Defense Settings → Clean PC mode

You could set it in training mode for a week or so if the pop ups persist!

Using the same thread because still getting pop-ups every now and then. I have used Yahoo Messenger before since new version installed but tonight I counted 14 pop-ups before they finally stopped. One of the responders said these pop-ups were either one type of an alert or a D+ alert (Defense+ right). Not sure what this means exactly.

Again I am using Comodo Firewall version 3.0.20.320. When I open Comodo under Network Defense it says set at train safe mode and has blocked 3 intrusion attempts. Is there a way for me to find out what was blocked? Also under ProActive Defense it says Defense+ is set at train safe mode and has blocked 24 suspicious attempts. Again, can I find out what they are?

As for the quote at the beginning I didn’t realize PiCo posted it and since it has been over a week and I am still getting pop-ups, should I set it at Clean PC or just leave it like it is?

Go into your logs. Its all right there. I have Yahoo Messenger and I get 1 pop up for the firewall and 1 for the D+. Look under Firewall events and D+ events. You will get an alert for every program when you first use it.1 You can use training mode till everything is learned.

yjsk2100 I think you’ve been using Defense+ with “Train with Safe Mode” mode, so it is normal to have pop-ups.
If u use it with “Training Mode” mode, there shouldn’t be any pop-ups at all, since everything is learned.

So I guess 1 week of “Training Mode” mode should give NONE pop-ups during the week and only FEW after you set it in “Clean PC Mode” or “Train with Safe Mode”.

If I’m wrong please feel free to correct me somebody

No your right PiCo. But only if the programs used the most are used during that week. When ever I install Comodo the first thing I do is manually add all my programs into the firewall and D+. I have over 200 programs on both my laptop and desktop, most of the being games and stuff. It takes me a couple of hours but when I done i set both the firewall and D+ to train with safe mode. I do not use clean pc mode cause I don’t feel like dealing with pending files.

Thanks for the quick responses. I am not sure if I fully understand Clean PC setting because I have always used Train Safe Mode setting so I think I will leave well enough alone for now. Just read the past post where vettetech said

How does one go about manually adding all programs into the firewall and D+? I am not sure how many programs I have but there are quite a few but not close to 200 like V has. Just curious because I may want to do that to make sure my firewall and D+ recognizes these programs and I will still use Train in Safe Mode.

Read the help file and you will learn all the different levels of D+. I have the firewall set to “train with safe mode” and D+ set to “train with safe mode”. To manually add files to D+ simply go to D+\Advanced\Computer Security Policy. Click on the add button on the top right and add your files . Use the browse tab to browse through your hard drive for the files you want to add. For me its mainly all games.
