If you are still struggling with this, I believe I’ve gotten a step closer than you…

I used the following script file (I separated the params into lines for easier readability):

[ol]- /backup_operation

  • /backup_type full
  • /description “Backup from command-line”
  • /type partition
  • /source C
  • /compressionlevel high
  • /destinationtype destinationtypediskfile
  • /destinationpath “Z:\MyBackups\ComodoBackupTest.cbu”
  • /diskusage normal
  • /processorusage normal
  • /runtaskbefore “|Z:\MyBackups\script.exe| -path:|Z:\MyBackups| -file:ComodoBackupTest.cbu -keep:3”
  • /waitbeforetask
  • /log_file “Z:\MyBackups\ComodoBackupTest.log”
  • /log_method “create”
  • /emailnotification
  • /onsuccess
  • /onfailure
  • /subject “Backup Log for COMODO BACKUP command-line”
  • /sender “myemail@address.com
  • /recipient “myemail@address.com
  • /smtpserver my.smtpserver.com
  • /emailusername “myemail@address.com
  • /emailpassword “mypassword”
  • /emailport 465
  • /emailsecurity SSL
  • /guiRunMode 5[/ol]

You can see the changes I needed to make to get it to run…

  1. LINE 24 - /port command is not valid. I changed it to /emailport and BINGO, no more hang.
  2. LINES 4 & 5 - I could NOT get /type disk to work, PERIOD. I changed to /type partition and /source C and, VOILA, good backup.

NOTE: I did not receive the notification email. I got an “error 53”. Not sure what that is, could be my side, but at least the ■■■■ script ran.

Could someone at Comodo VERIFY THIS issue? The documentation does not appear to be accurate/correct.

To elaborate further…

“/type disk” option with “/source disk#1” results in hang with CBU.EXE stuck at 25% CPU utilization - no GUI, NO BACKUP.
“/type disk” option with “/source” as “disk1”, “disk 1”, “1” (or any of those three using 0 instead of 1) all result in an error in CBU.exe.log “/type is invalid” and/or a password prompt (bad parameters message) for backup.

Can anyone else elaborate on the CORRECT “/type disk /source” combination??

While it’s nice to know that my “C:” drive is backed up, I’d be happier to have the whole disk 0 backed up, instead.

I am using version 4.4.1 and have noticed something similar. If you are still trying to get this to work, or for others out there reading these forums…
I have run the GUI and saved the script files, then edited them, mostly to put one command per line so that it can be read easily. Now I am at the point where I am beginning to have some luck and consistency in getting scripts that I create from scratch to work.

I have noticed that the /SOURCE parameter cannot be on a line by itself, something needs to follow it.
Some of the values on the parameter records need to be in Quotes to work correctly.

and I have not had any luck getting the email features to work at all.

Keep trying, don’t give up, and post your successes as well as your questions and failures.
