Combining MSE With CF Kills Internet Connection of Sandboxed Browsers[V6]

A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)

  • Can U reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:I can replicate said bug and issue completely I believe.
  • If U can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what U did & what happened:
    When trying to open browsers in the sandbox option of Comodo Free Firewall the browser would open and then fail to make any connection to the internet at which time the browser would freeze. When I tried to close said browser the entire system frooze up with my only option of a hard forced power down by holding down off/on power button (with no proper shutdown of any program or the O.S.). After hard reboot i tried to run Comodo’s Free Firewall Virtual Kiosk option which also, upon trying to load, frooze system again. I had to follow same power down steps to reboot system to get O.S. running properly enough to make these post.

Exact steps is as follows. 1. Complete reformat to “out of box state.” 2. Installed Comodo Free Firewall Version 6.1.14723.2813 from I.E. 3.Installed Microsoft Security Essentials. 4.Windows updates scan and install. 5. Installed Aeria Games Ignite (uniinstalled netsession_win.exe) 6. Installed Alliance of Valiant Arms. 7. Installed FireFox’s latest browser as of 5/13/2013. Completed.

  • If a software compatibility problem have U tried the conflict FAQ?:Discovered issue was with M.S.E. Realtime Protection Feature Enabled. Problem was resolved by disabling M.S.E. Realtime Protection.
  • Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:No.
  • Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how U tried to fix it etc:I came to Comodo’s forum to seek assistance.
  • Always attach - Diagnostics file, Watch Activity process list, dump if freeze/crash. (If complex - CIS logs & config, screenshots, video, zipped program - not m’ware)

B. YOUR SETUP (Likely the same for each issue, so you can copy forward)

  • Exact CIS version & configuration:Comdo Free Firewall Version 6.1.14723.2813 Default config.
  • Modules enabled & level. D+/HIPS, Autosandbox/BBlocker, Firewall, & AV:

  • Have U updated (without uninstall) from a CIS 5?:No, this is my first time using said product.

I slightly modified your original post (including the title) so that it follows the correct format. Please look it over and make sure everything looks okay.

I have a few questions though, which need to be answered before I can forward this. The first is whether this bug has anything to do with the games you installed. I assume it does not, but since you listed that as part of the steps to replicate this bug I need to ask.

In addition I need some more information from you:

  1. Under A6 please list the exact version number of MSE you are using, and any other software involved in this except for CF.

  2. Please answer B2.

  3. For B6 please let us know whether you have UAC active or not and also whether you are running your computer as an administrator.

  4. Can you also please attach a diagnostic report (which can be obtained by opening CF, clicking on the question mark, going to support, and clicking diagnostics) and a KillSwitch process dump (obtained by going to the advanced task section, clicking on “Watch Activity”, and once it loads, going to the KillSwitch option, and selecting “Save Current View”) to your first post. Note that for the KillSwitch process dump you will need to put this in a zip file before attaching it to your first post.

Feel free to ask me any questions if you are not sure how to accomplish what I asked for above.

I’m sorry, i just recieved ur messages and oddly enough i had filled in the areas which are clearly empty. I guess somehow through maybe the post process the were cleared somehow or another, either which way ill alter the report an answer all question an needs for an officialo bug report to be sent. The possibility of ir beeing related to the game has now became a likely scenario also given the malicious behavior of many put in charge of that game who dont play fairly on the net or protect its game players, BAD AERIA GAMES… so its kinda likely, but i do think there are some compatibility isue with the realtime part of mse interfering or whatever with comodo. so ill fix my post sometime today. thank you for the email bringing it to my attention, because i only want the best product from what seems to be a caring an good company we need to have to protect us on the net… so thank you again

For the time being I will move this bug report into the Non Format Issue Reports - CIS section, as not all of the required information has been included. This does not mean that it can no longer be edited.

As soon as you have edited it, and included all required attachments, please send me a PM and I can move it to the format verified section. However, do be aware that until it is moved to the format verified section Comodo devs will not be able to view it. Thus, in order for this bug to be fixed it would be very helpful if you could add the requested information.

Can you please check and see if this is fixed with the newest version (version 6.2.282872.2847)? Please let us know whether it is fixed or you are still experiencing the problem.
