cloud scanner alert for spflite.exe

Today I had a window pop up which said:

A malicious item has been detected.

Name: .UnclassifiedMalware[at]1
Location: C:\Program Files\SPPFLite\spflite.exe
More information: Unavailable

I’ve been using the program for over 10 years and have never had any problems with it. I am tempted to just have Comodo ignore this error permanently, but I thought I’d ask first.

Is there any way to determine why someone thinks this is malware and what the actual problem is with it?

Thanks!

Bill

It is probably a false positive. I will move this post to the false positive board.

Hi bhenshaw,
If you can find the FP file, you can submit through this
link:Comodo Firewall | Get Best Personal Firewall Software for $29.99 A Year we can go to have a look at it.
Thanks and Regards,
Lin mengze

OK… I just submitted it via the link.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Lin,

I’m a little confused.

I got your reply which said:

This is to inform you that false-positive with
<spflite.exe> (SHA1: )
has been fixed.
You can update to AV database Version <7456> of Comodo Internet Security Version<5.0.162636.1135> and confirm it.

The thing is, I’m not running the Antivirus. I’m running only the Comodo firewall. I am using version 5.3.176757.1236.

I sent you a a reply along these lines by email, but haven’t heard back so I thought I’d post a message here.

Since I am not running the Antivirus, isn’t the error window coming from Comodo firewall??

Thanks,

Bill

Then it is coming from the cloud av. When cloud lookup finds out a file is in the av definitions it will alert the user even though the user does not have the av installed.

Do you still get the alert?

Hi Eric,

I hadn’t tried it because I thought I had to download and install something first.

I just tried and the alert is gone.

Thanks!

Bill
