CIS Won't Install Period!

Got a good issue to present.

I have a fresh install of Vista 64 Home Premium. Installed from CD on an HP dv7. System is running sweet no software issues (other than Adoble 7 installs but keeps saying its not activated, which it was but won’t stay that way). Everything else installed so far is working. This is a fresh install with an OEM Vista disk, done to get rid of HP bloatware and insure a clean install. As I was having extreme issues with Vista reinstalling from their recovery partition. Programs were scambling, Comodo wouldn’t uninstall True Image scrambled and many other software issues. I deleted all old partitions and re set new one’s (got rid of their restore partition) and formatted the C drive fully. I did iinstall new drivers for the SATA controller from Intel for this chipset to eliminate some issues with a couple of pieces of software (CD Burning) that didn’t see the CD. But so far this has seemed to actually improved total system response. Unless these driver’s are conflicting with CIS I can think of no other reason for it not to install.

This is a shame, been using CIS or CAV over two yrs now and up till now have had no or few issues with any of the releases until the 439. I have 3 other desktop systems and a laptop all running XP SP3 and CIS with no issue’s. Something in CIS is not playing nicely with Vista and I am at a total loss as to why, as newly installed Vista 64 is working very smoothly and quickly as is 98% of the software installed.
There are and have not been any other AV or FW software installed on this system since my clean install. Basically reinstalled due to issues after a previous restore with HP factory restore, after which I had issues with either the restore or issues with HP recovery or conflict with TrueImage Home 2009. So to eliminate hours (days?) Of searching I did a clean install with a MS OEM disk. Vista is working smoother than before but having issues with CIS. True Image is working fine with this new install.

When I try to install CIS ver 477 all I get is the Compatibility Assistant popping up asking if it installed right or to try and re-install… Nope it don’t install period, Nada, no error messages from CIS nothing. Turned off Windows Firewall and Defender, tried again…same issue. So don’t look like I’m going to have the same issues as everyone else…I can’t even get it to install at all. Trying to install on Admin acct and gave executable permission to run as admin.

Does CIS have issues with Trueimage or anything in Vista 64? I am at a loss to explain the Total lack of any portion of the install process to execute. It just appears to start then the Assistant pops up. It is my opinion that there are some issues with the 64 bit version of Vista and CIS. I noticed that most of the real serious issues with CIS appear to be in Vista 64x and to a lesser extent in 32x, with fewer problems with XP.

I’m open to suggestions.

HP Pavilion dv7
Coreduo Intel Processors
Intel Moble Express 4 Chipset
500 gb Hard Drive
4 meg Ram
Windows Vista 64 OEM

I’ve got the same problem. I just got an HP with Vista 64 bit. When I tried to install CIS it started out ok then an error came up. It knocked out my ability to get online. Luckily I created a system restore point before I began the download, so everything is working fine.

I just installed the 32 bit windows xp version on my laptop without a problem.

I wish Comodo would fix the 64 bit Vista version. >:(
