CIS stop working message

I have Comodo Internet Security Premium installed on a Windows Vista computer. On occasion I have gotten the error message that Comodo has stopped working followed by the error message that Windows Data Execution Prevention has closed Comodo. It seems to stop Comodo for only a short time though. Appreciate any assistance with the source and fix for this issue. Thanks

Could you check the Windows logs (Control Panel → Administrative Tools – Event Viewer → Windows logs → System) to see what Comodo process crashed?

What version of Comodo are you using on what OS?

Eric

I got the message again that CIS had stopped working. I went into event viewer/windows log and found the following message:

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0023AE5964E2. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired… Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

I have the latest version of Comodo Pro which I just downloaded the other day and am running it on Windows Vista Business.

Hopefully this information may be helpful to you in diagnosis

Thank you for the report but this is an unrelated event.

When you get the message again that CIS has stopped working could you look with task manager and see which of the following processes are running:
For v5.x: cmdagent.exe and cfp.exe
For 6.x: cmdagent.exe, cis.exe, cistray.exe and cavwp.exe

That way we can see which process took a leave of absence. Once we know the process we can see if excluding it from DEP makes a difference or not. It looks like DEP is playing a role.

What version of CIS are you using?
