CIS Memory use very high

Cmdagent.exe is using 750 MB of memory right now and climbing.
Its not scanning. Antivirus setting is Stateful, Defense+ is Safe Mde, Firewall is Safe Mode.
0 applications are running in sandbox.
It’s also not updating

Any Ideas?

Since when is this happening? Is there an indexer program running in the background that it might be responding to?

Please make sure there are no other security programs running in the background at the same time.

May be left overs of previously installed security programs are in the way. Try using removal tools for those programs. Here is a list of removal tools for common av programs: ESET Knowledgebase .

Otherwise do a Google search with terms “removal tool” and * name of product or vendor*.

I don’t have any other anti virus programs on my computer. I might have an indexer running, I’m checking on that right now.

I’ve turned off all possible indexing but cmdagent.exe is still taking up loads and loads of memory. Currently 800mb after 24h on my computer being on and gaming/surfing.
4 minutes after posting It’s at 835mb

In your topic start you stated it was not updating. What is the AV database number? Look under More → About.

Appearently it was 0. I’m doing a Reinstall.

Reinstall, Update to 5.4.189822.1355 and Virus Database 9116 Seemed to have fixed it. I’ll report back tomorrow.

Keep us posted.

I think the av database may have been the problem and kept CIS trying to update.
