I took Macafee’s Beta version root kit detective to rid a machine with several rootkit viruses. Too bad CIS didn’t work. I will have to reconsider using it. I like the GUI on this program but if it’s not effective with malware it will have to go. I guess you get what you pay for.
Well… you should send those rootkit samples to comodo Comodo Firewall | Get Best Personal Firewall Software for $29.99 A Year
There is no AV sotfware with 100% detection. I bet there are lot of malware samples that CIS can detect and Macafee can’t. Paying for AV while there is good free alternative(CIS) is jus waste of money.
Did you have Defense+ turned on?
If so were the rootkits still able to install? Like Breen said
Sounds as if you Installed CIS with intent of having it remove the root kit, is that it?
That ^
If I had to reconsider using a software because it didnt detect something, I’d be left with none.
Instead do as Breen suggested and send the sample to Comodo, so they can make it better.
