CIS and MBAM Pro

Hi, as I maybe want to use CIS (AV,FW,D+) with MBAM Pro (real time protection) I wonder if there are any conflicts with those two?

I would add those files to each others exclusion list:

In Comodo:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamcore.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamnet.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\ssubtmr6.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\vbalsgrid6.ocx

In Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro:

C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cmdagent.exe C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfp.exe C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cavscan.exe C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\cfupdate.exe

Thanks

Why would you want to scan and treat each file twice, and maybe more times in reverse? Wouldnt it be enough, if you scan files before they enter your folders, or before you execute them? Having one guard and one “on demand only”-scanner?

There is always the potential for conflicts when two applications are trying to do the same thing at the same time.

From what I read in other forums, MBAM is built to work with other AV’s as it scans the files in some different way. Also it only scans on execution as far as I know.

Why MBAM Pro + CIS ? Because MBAM Pro has a great detection (that surpasses most other security products in my opinion) + web protection. I actually thought about using Comodo FW & D+ with Avast free AV and MBAM Pro. The CIS Suite is pretty awesome except the AV in my opinion

I added most of MBAM’s files to Comodo’s AV exclusion, d+ trusted files, buffer overflow exclusion list and the 4 Comodo files (listed above) to MBAM’s ignore list. Is there anything else I should add/change/do ?

Thanks

CAV also scans on execution. Again, anytime you’re asking two applications to do the same thing at the same time, you’re asking for trouble.

Even if MBAM scans in a different way, (?) it’s still going to be attempting to scan the file while CAV is attempting to scan the file.

This may help:

2 or even 3 guards are more worse for your performance than a whole folder of malware (joke, but).

Why dont you also add “THIS” product, or “THAT” too? They have a webfilter, and also a good detection rate. You should not miss them.

Do you notice something?
You will never be fully protected. If its one, two, three or …

You should watch the logs of your computer and harddrive to see the amount of useless operations each second in your case.

If you use MB Pro then I suggest you disable the realtime AV in CIS. It is then debatable as to overlap between MB Pro and D+

Personally I use MB Pro with realtime enabled, but not with CIS, but PrivateFirewall with HIPS / Process Monitor on, and I have no issues with these 2. In fact I have run some malware tests and this is a fantastic combination.

However, CIS is also a great protection on its own but I had some stability issues with it and so I changed to PFW and MB Pro.

I personally would not use MB Pro and CIS together, but would use CIS and MB basic for manual daily scans, or alternatively if I already had MB Pro then I would disable realtime and just schedule it for hourly updates and hourly quick scans or even just flash scans.

I did some malware tests and so far no problems at all with CIS (with av) + Mbam pro… and the detection / blocking is just awesome. The Mbam web-protection blocks already a lot of malware (and to that I will also add ComodoDNS or NortonDNS) and for the rest d+,comodo av and mbam realtime protection works just fine. From my testing so far I feel secure enough to continue doing the malware tests on my real system instead of a virtualbox ;D

I’m not sure if crossposting is allowed… but in other forums people still tell me that mbam was especially made to be working without any problems with other security products (av’s,hips,…). And for me, I dont have any problems so far :S

I have experienced definite and significant slowdown with MS SE and MB Pro together, with each product excluding the other in settings. With MB Pro and PFW it simply fly along and stops everything dead.

I would be using CIS but there were too many issues until 3 months ago. I hope to return to CIS one day because I like Melih’s ethos and vision, but Comodo quality is a major problem and also simplicity for most normal users, not advanced people like most of us here on these forums.

The quality problem is not just with CIS but also CTM which almost trashed one PC, CB which is too buggy, and CDE which caused significant problems. In one or two years from today it may all be production quality, but right now many products are still betas or even some are alpha.

Using CIS for ages now and no problems at all… i also never had a suite i liked so much. OA++ would be nice as well but its much more expensive then the free CIS ;D and probably isn’t any better.
