CIS always blocks Maxthon3 Update


A. The bug/issue

    i requested maxthon 3 to verify updates. maxthon did it and launched update.

  2. What actually happened or you actually saw:
    maxthon claims problems thru error windows

  3. What you expected to happen or see:

    CIS put maxthon update in a list on defense+, i declared them fiable files.
    I deactivated all CIS fonctions but nothing more.

  5. If its a software compatibility problem have you tried the compatibility fixes (link in format)?:
    dont know

  6. Details & exact version of any software (execpt CIS) involved (with download link unless malware):
    Maxthon 3.4.5.1000 32bits wanted to update to 3.4.5.2000 32bits on my win7 64bits

  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen:
    just ask maxthon to update thru main menu

  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
    i am not a rookie, i am using maxthon and CIS for years…
    i am a computer security speciallist.
    i code system program in C++.
    i am sure CIS blocks maxthon…
    It happens already but deactivating CIS and restart win7 worked to update maxthon…

    deactivated all after D+=PC Safe sandbox=deactivated firewall=secure AV=fast (translation from french CIS)

  6. OS version, service pack, number of bits, UAC setting, & account type:
    Win7 64 Bits french ultimate, uac ON and admin account

  7. Other security and utility software currently installed:
    none, i trusted CIS

  8. Other security software previously installed at any time since Windows was last installed:
    codestuff starter ?

Also, in several places you describe what you did or saw in rather vague terms. It will help us to fix the problems if you make the information more specific. If you need translation help please PM me as I know some French.

The reasons we need these items of information, though they may not seem directly relevant to the issue are explained here.

We would be very grateful if you would add these items of information so we can forward this post to the format verified board, where it is more likely to get fixed. You can find assistance using red links in the Format and here. If you need further help please ask a mod. If you do not add the information after a week we will forward this post to the non-format board. If this happens we will tell you how to rectify this if you wish to.

In the current process we will normally leave it up to you whether you want to make a report which includes all necessary information or not. We may remind you if we think a bug of particular importance.

Thanks for your issue report. We have moved it to the non-format bugs board for the moment because although it is in standard format, there is still important information missing or unclear. Developers may look at the issue in the non-format board, and may fix it.

But it is much more likely to be fixed if you edit your first post to create an issue report which meets all criteria in the bug forum Checklist and Format. (You can copy and paste the format from this topic). The general reasons why are summarized in that post, the reasons we ask for specific pieces of information are given in this detailed post.

Please note under the new process we are controlling format compliant reports more closely. If you make the effort to make report in the suggested format, we think it’s important to ensure that devs have all the information needed to fix the bug.

You can get your report moved to the format verified issues board simply by ensuring that it is correctly formatted and all criteria are met, and PM’ing a mod who is active on the bug board.
