Maybe it’s just me and my imagination, but I think full AV scan doesn’t use cache, because it takes about the same time to do full scan as in CIS 5 even after the PC was working whole day (I thought that real time protection “Contributed” to the cache, meaning Full scan will skip files checked by real time shield, unless changed). Quick scan and rating scan takes literary seconds.
I’m not sure. I just know from experimenting on my computer that I see a significant difference in full scan speed only after running the full scan once.
In case of avast!, on-access and on-demand caches are shared. If you leave avast! installed long enough and just using the system, even on-demand scans will become ultra quick. Or if you do on-demand scan, same will apply to on-access scans. But i’ve been using CIS 6 for very long, it shoudl populate the cache already. But on-demand scan is still ridiculously slow. So, to me it seems like caches aren’t shared. Unless someone from Comodo can explain it to us how caching works in CIS6…
Thats really strange. In avast!'s case, even scans after few days will be much quicker. Still not as much as after doing one after another but still a big difference that doesn’t go away after a while.
