I would like to know if anyone has any ideas of how to make CIS 6 more secure on a family pc, while not providing any alerts or atleast minimal alerts. By default, Comodo only displays alerts when unknown applications are installing. What I would like to know is if there are any configurations that I can use on a home pc to prevent these alerts and auto sandbox unknown programs.
Also there is this weird thing were every so often Comodo pops up saying its up-to-date. How can i prevent this from showing?
Please check out my article about How to Install Comodo Firewall. I also provide some information about how to configure it to show no alerts.
I have reported this as a bug. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update. Until then, if you like you can disable it to check for updates. Then you can just check back at the forum every week or so to see if a new update is available.
Go to the Advanced Settings. Then make sure the options under “General Settings” are shown. Then click on the updates option. Then disable the option to “Check for Updates”.
Better press once a day the update button.
Or make a “fake scan” profile and set it to “update before scan”. For example a scan of a dummy textfile.
That way you dont get the useless program update pop up, but you still get automatic antivirus updates.
(I am not sure what happens if the computer is not enabled when the scan time comes. So, use a time when it will most probably run.)
