CIS 3.8.64263.468 firewall don't catch network activities [RESOLVED]

I have CIS 3.8.64263.468 XP Vista x32 and Windows Vista SP1 x86.

With my cable internet connection - no problem: CIS showing pop-up windows on each application when it trying to make connection.
With my bluetooth GPRS/EDGE connection - firewall doesn’t showing any pop-up windows for any application. So it allows any connection, even if blocking rule is applied for this application in CIS firewall.

  1. CPU - Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5300
  2. OS - Windows Vista SP1, Administrator, UAC disabled
  3. Firewall settings - Security level: Custom policy mode, Alert level: High

PS: CIS 3.5.57173.439 XP Vista x32 working perfectly on any connection type on my computer.

Hi KruFFT,

Based on just a hunch and a theory.
Try unchecking the box for ICS gateway server. As in pic.
Then apply and probably reboot.

Here’s the theory CIS sees the second connection as the
shared interface and is in a passive allow all state for that
connection.

Did you make the GPRS/EDGE connected trusted? Check your global rules under FIREWALL → ADVANCED → GLOBAL.

Ewen

Bad Frogger
The box “This computer is an internet connection gateway” already unchecked.

panic
Global rules: just one standard rule “Block ICMP In From I Any…”

I disconnect internet cable and switch off network card in Device Manager, then reboot. So i haven’t no other network connection except bluetooth GPRS/EDGE connection. But it doesn’t help me.

PS: CIS clear installation, no rules and setting changed except listed in above posts.

Hi KruFFT,

Here is another shot at it.
Maybe, just maybe, the bluetooth GPRS/EDGE drivers make their own funky packets.

Here is another setting to try - check box - Monitor other NDIS protocols than TCP/IP

Remember to Apply, Restart required.

Shooting in the dark again, as I don’t have your hardware to play with this.

1-st notebook: FSC Amilo Pro 3505 with internal USB-dongle detect as “Generic Bluetooth Radio” (USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001&REV_1657) and “Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator” (BTH\MS_BTHBRB), Standard Windows Drivers.
2-nd notebook: Acer Aspire 5054WXMi with internal “Broadcom Bluetooth 2.0 EDR USB-dongle” (USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2101&REV_0100), driver is WIDCOMM 6.0.1.3600.

Same problem on both notebooks.

This setting has not helped me.

PS: and again - CIS 3.5.57173.439 XP Vista x32 working perfectly on any connection type on my computers.
Problem with new version 3.8.

New CIS 3.8.65951.477 XP Vista x32 - work fine! Thx!
