CIS 2011 Pro and GeekBuddy and then an install of Comodo Cleaning Essentials (CC

Dear COMODO,

CIS 2011 Pro and GeekBuddy and then an install of Comodo Cleaning Essentials (CCE)

I have paid for Comodo products such as CIS Pro 2011 and GeekBuddy.

Invoice No: 7624XX-XX

License Key: b93e3f16-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-xxxxxxxxxxx

Subscription ID: XXXXXXX - confidential

I have a very recent valid paid for license for
Comodo Internet Security Professional 2011,
and I have been a paid for customer for some time.
I am not even a new customer to Comodo products.

I also have many other comodo software installed that I use.

I installed CCE Comodo Cleaning Essentials
recently and it uninstalled my GeekBuddy.

Now it only tries to install a newer version
(again and again repeatedly and nothing else)
of Comodo Live PC Support when I try to use
GeekBuddy, which I have paid for, it only goes
into this reinstall sequence again, which it also
does after I restart and boot into windows, as well.

SO NOW…
Double clicking on
My desktop icon for:

COMODO GeekBuddy

(to try to run GeekBuddy)

which is a shortcut that has these associated with it now:

Target: “C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO GeekBuddy\CLPSLA.exe”

Start in: “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\COMODO\COMODO GeekBuddy”

Brings up a temporarily displayed gray spash screen for

“COMODO livePCsupport”

then the next message shown is:

“A new version of livePCsupport is available. Please wait for the update process to complete!”

it runs through a percentage display of unpacking the install executable and then this prompt shows:

"COMODO livePCsupport has detected that you have already
installed COMODO GeekBuddy on your computer!

Warning! The subscriber ID and the saved profile will be removed.

Press the OK button to uninstall COMODO GeekBuddy and install
COMODO livePCsupport or press Cancel button to quit the setup!"

So, tell me why I had to uninstall a newer Comodo app for the same
purpose and the Comodo installer tries to install the older version of a different
program that was for the same purpose even when it knows you have the newer one?

I also lost use of my paid for Comodo GeekBuddy now, and canceling it cancels
nothing except accepting using COMODO livePCsupport, it does not give me
the use of either COMODO livePCsuppert (which I USED TO (PAST) have) and
it do3es NOT allow me to use my paid for GeekBuddy AT ALL anymore.

I, yes, have CANCELED this setup MANY TIMES already before now.

I have canceled it many times, and it only is “stuck” doing that now.

So just because I installed CCE, I lost my GeekBuddy now?

It does this routine after logging into Windows.

It does this routine if I try to use GeekBuddy.

I have canceled it many times. It does nothing else.

It only tries to install a newer version of COMODO livePCsupport.

I cannot use GeekBuddy anymore at all. I paid for GeekBuddy.

It is the newer version of Comodo software for the same purpose.

Hi Lawrence, welcome to the forums.

If you’re not getting a timely response on the forums then I recommend going to Comodo Support, registering on their system and raising a support ticket on this issue.

Yes, I did that, I just wanted to be thorough by presenting my issue
in numerous different ways, and this was their reply as shown below:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting COMODO and for your interest in our products and services. We would like to advice you to try to install a fresh copy of GeekBuddy through the following link:

http://download.comodo.com/lps/download/client/geekbuddy/cgb_setup.exe

Once installed, please activate your copy of GeekBuddy by following the steps below:

  1. Start the GeekBuddy of livePCsupport client
  2. Click the service of your choice from the welcome screen (the registration screen will appear)
  3. Click “Activate Your Service” link.
  4. Enter the License Key or subscriber ID you received through your email

If this does not work, please try first using the Comodo Uninstaller to remove GeekBuddy and livePCsupport from your computer, then try using the above link to install GeekBuddy again.

If you encounter additional issues, please visit us at www.geekbuddy.com and click on Chat Now. Our technicians are also available through this web chat service.

If you have any further questions or comments regarding this matter, please feel free to contact us.

Yours in service,

GeekBuddy Support Team

OK, no problem. Did their response solve this issue for you?

Yes, it did work just fine to reinstall GeekBuddy, I feel so silly for not thinking of that, sorry! Thanks!

That’s OK, there is no need to apologise. I’m glad that it’s all sorted for you now. :-TU
