A. THE BUG/ISSUE (Varies from issue to issue)
Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
Yes.
If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened:
1: Used old v8 CIS with HIPS and disabled verbose mode
2: Install v10 and import/use old configuration
One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:
I never used verbose mode since it seemed pretty useless, as it would constantly ask when a program wants to access a registry key instead of once.
Now v10 changed the behavior when clicking the “remember my answer” checkbox under a warning and then allowing/disallowing an action.
For example for “allow to run program” v8 would whitelist the one .exe, v10 instead whitelists all executables(!) - I hope I don’t have to explain why this is a bad idea.
So your silent changes to verbose mode, made my settings less secure until I discovered it.
Now I need to have verbose mode enabled, which means it also weakens my security, as I’m constantly annoyed with dozens of registry key warnings, so that I’m on the brink of removing the checks for them.
Solution:
Please change verbose mode back to what it was before.
Let me whitelist single applications with the “remember my answer” when verbose mode is disabled.
