CFP Net & App Monitors not active & app agent needs reinstalling [Resolved]

While I was downloading a comodo firewall upgrade, my power supply crushed!
Now, after many attempts to uninstall and re install comodo firewall, when it starts it shows
3 messages down right saying:
1 Commodo network monitor not active. Reinstalling the application might help.
2. commodo application monitor not active. Reinstalling the application might help.
3. commodo application agent has an incompatible version. Reinstalling the application might help.
What can I do? I have tried uninstalling and installing many times without luck!
And I can’t turn on these monitors from the comodo main window. I have win XP SP2.
help!

Welcome to the forums kmouts

Unfortunately, it sounds like your cfp installation may have suffered some corruption following the crash.

If you have had no success during the un-install/re-install process, then it is likely you have some remnants of cfp remaining in the registry. this probably means you will have to resort to manually cleaning the registry using something like regedit.

Basically, un-install, clean the registry, then re-install.

For the most part, cfp keeps its settings in:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Personal Firewall]

However, its worth doing a general scan to make sure you haven’t missed anything.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
Indeed the problem was on some registry entries which were something like:
LEGACY_CMDAGENT
LEGACY_CMDMON
LEGACY_INSPECT
and they couldn’t be removed even with the regedt32. I had first to change the
permissions (with right-click on these entries) in order to be able to delete them along with
their subtrees.
After this the reinstallation run smoothly and everything is back to normal again.
Thanks again :Beer

Your welcome. I’m glad the fix was easy
