CAV hang CPU at 50%

Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
Yes

If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened:

  1. Initiate a “Right click scan”

One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:
Scan runs extremely slow (several minutes) while scanning the “C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2010\adlmint.dll”
(Files size is 1.17 MB) This has happen more the ones. And cavwp.exe process hang the CPU at 50%.

One or two sentences explaining what you expected to happen:
Scan should had finish after 1 minute in right click scan of the file path “C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2010\adlmint.dll”.

Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how you tried to fix it etc:
I added the file on the exclusion, this seems to be the only solution.

B. YOUR SETUP
Exact CAV version & configuration:
8.4.0.5165 - Proactive profiles

Modules enabled & level. D+/HIPS, Auto-sandbox/BBlocker, & AV:
HIPS- safe mode, Auto-sandbox-enable(default config), Viruscope - enable(default config), AV-stateful(I enabled the heuristic to low in real time shield, and also in full scan settings).

OS version, SP, 32/64 bit, UAC setting, account type, V.Machine used:
Windows 7 Sp1, 32 bit, UAC disable, Windows firewall Enable.

Please check this issue with upcoming stable version 10.

Thank you, I will, but for now I use the latest stable version since I reinstalled my Windows.

It looks to be cause by having the heuristics setting enabled, once disabled the file should be scanned much faster so you could disable use heuristics scanning under the full scan profile options. Or as you have stated can just make an exclusion for the file if you do not want to disable the heuristic option.

I did not check it with heuristics. How long does it take? A decompression bomb could take a maximum of 10 min for the reference. It looks a bit suspicious if it’s DLL… Interesting.

For me it takes just over 1 minute and I do see the CPU maintain 45-50% usage in task manager, it doesn’t hang but it does take a longer time than it should for a single file. Also if it makes any difference I tested on a SSD Windows 10 install so it could be longer on Windows 7 with a HDD.

OK I can confirm without heuristics enabled, the file is scanned under 3 seconds. Nice but, I hope V10 will fix this behavior I prefer
to have heuristic enabled.

Please check with Comodo Internet Security V10.0.0.6071 Beta thanks.
