Can't uninstall McAfee from New Win 7 system

I used Comodo Firewall on my XP sys for years. I wanted to install it on my new Dell Windows 7 sys, but after I uninstalled the McAfee Security (which came pre-installed), Windows 7 would not open except in “safe” mode. I had to do a “system restore” to a previous save to get Windows 7 to open normally. Do you have any advice on this problem?
