I did a fresh install of CFW 6.3.302093.2976 on my Win7 64bit system. Before I rebooted the system I manually started cistray.exe and adjusted some settings (proactive mode, FW set to training etc.).After reboot a right click on the tray icon and clicking on Open… nothing happens, the main window doesn’t come up. Manually starting cistray.exe doesn’t help either I deinstalled CFW, then installed again, no vail…
Can you see if any of the following processes are running or not:
cis.exe
cavwp.exe
cmdagent.exe
Task manager needs to be set to show processes of all users.
As always make sure there are no leftovers of security programs you had installed in the past. A possible left over can cause all sort of “strange effects”. Please run clean up tools for all security programs you had in the past. A list can be found here at the Eset website: ESET Knowledgebase .
In rare cases the main window comes up when I start cis.exe manually, in most cases it doesn’t. I haven’t yet found out the logic behind this behaviour. Even if the main window is up, I can’t open Advanced Settings.
I added \COMODO*.* to ESET’s exclusion filter. Vice versa: Autosandbox/Sandbox are disabled (I use sandboxie). FW is set to Training Mode.
So far, nothing helped. I deinstalled CFW, reinstalled (ESET disabled), opened the main window via cistray.exe, and adjusted the settings. After restart same behaviour as above: main window doesn’t open. ESET log doesn’t show any entry concerning CFW.
BTW, under Windos XP Pro 32-bit CFW functions flawlessly.
