Can't host MP game even when the exe is set to trusted

I can join MP game but I can’t hosteven whenI set the game exe to accept incoming UDP and TCP traffic. Curious I then set the game exe to trusted but still I can’t accept incoming connections(they are reported as being blocked).

Can someone help me by suggesting a solution to this?


To accept an incoming unsolicited connection (where someone out there is trying to contact your PC) you need to set up appropriate rules in the FIREWALL->ADVANCED->NETWORK SECURITY POLICY->GLOBAL POLICIES section.

I realise that you SHOULD be able to just set the application to accept incoming connections, but I’ve always set the rules up in the GLOBAL POLICY area for all inbound rules.

But that would mean that my PC would be thoroughly opened and not just for the game exe itself

Only for the ports required for that game (assuming you make tight rules) and D+ ensures that the traffic goes to the intended app because of the rules you’ve already set up.

The incoming traffic has to get past the firewall itself first. Once past the firewall, D+ takes control.
