Can't clear submitted file ... and somefink else...

Hi.

Two things … Defense+ is holding onto an old auto-submitted file “aswBMR.exe”, a widgit I got from the Avast forum and used once. Defense+ cleared file for use, but I can’t clear it from the Submitted files tab in Unrecognised files. Any tips?

Second, I’m using IE8 (32bit) in Windows 7x64 with Comodo firewall and HIPs, AvastFree AV, EMET, MBAM, SuperAntispyware and MRT scans. No evidence of problems (other than me fouling things).

IE8 broke on a pop-up link so I opened Task Manager and, instead of just shutting IE8, I ticked “Show processes from all users”, elevated to Admin as prompted, and noticed ieexplorer.exe was already running under my admin user name ??? The command path was a long string of binary gunk after the main path, not the usual multi-tab SCODEF:/CREDAT: info.

Assuming the garbage was down to the crashed tab, how can IE8 run as Admin if I didn’t elevate it? I thought granting elevated privileges were task-specific? I didn’t elevate the browser and can’t see why I would.

Hasn’t repeated, so can’t say more.

Always keen to learn so like to know if I should be more paranoid than already am. :o

To clear the Submitted file list.

Search for this file submit.n
It’s here normally C:\Program Files\COMODO\COMODO Internet Security\database
Delete it and restart your CIS. ( or just restart your PC )
Then the Submitted file list is clear again.

To clear the Log list.

Open your CIS and open the Defense+ tab, press on the View Defense+ Events link.
( or you can just go via View Firewall Events link in the Firewall tab )
In the new window press on More… button.
Next window press on File, in the upper left corner and press Clear
Under Logs per Module, press on one of the Events and see if they are cleared.
And do the same under Other Logs, if these logs under here is not cleared, just press File and then Clear.

Then is ALL of the logs cleared again, every one of them, ready for a fresh start.

And THANKS for a Great Firewall. :-TU
( have posted this tip on another thread also )
