Can't backup to CD-R

I’d like to back up to CD-R or CD-RW, but when I select “CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive” as the “Backup To”, the Device drop-down box remains empty. Is there a fix for this?

I’m using a Toshiba Satellite A75-S209 with a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2512. Win XP SP2.

Hi David and welcome,

                                 Can you tell me if the SD-R2512 came pre-installed on your notebook or did you buy the drive retail? Also, is it just Backup thats having trouble with the drive?

Hope you had an great day.Well have you tried normally writing a CD/DVD using your drive or else make a check whether your drive is connected properly to your system.This iam telling to you because iam also using the same “samsung cdrw/dvd sm-352b”.Hope for the best, This might work for you.

the CD-R works fine using xp-pro basic built in cd writing files to disc, works with cd-rw also no problems, just made image cd’s with norton ghost, and stomp backup these worked

I would like to try comodo backup beause of the zip compression format

would like to try on cd it works fine to HD int or usb hd

Install lattest version STILL DOES NOT WORK!!!
